I get the feeling the disruption of Covid has meant Dublin aren't as well prepared this season as others years (one of Dublin's biggest advantage for years is have been by far the best prepared team in the country) but having said that I've a bad feeling ahead of this game for Kildare. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1349 - 01/08/2021 12:59:04 2366376 Link 0 |
Despite what some may say here, the gap most certainly has closed and we will be knocked off our perch very soon, either this year or next imo. I don't think it will be today mind but its coming.

I would expect a 5 or 6 point win for the Dubs. Would like to see a one or two point win though. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2519 - 01/08/2021 13:36:44 2366396 Link 0 |

God, Gaelic football cab be like watching paint dry! Very poor march from 2 average teams. Smb2 (Clare) - Posts: 12 - 01/08/2021 16:36:28 2366463 Link 1 |
Dubs very static in attack. Slow possession, lack of runners. joeteor (Donegal) - Posts: 217 - 01/08/2021 17:07:34 2366474 Link 0 |
Feel sorry for Kildare, great effort here. Four points the difference in the 41st minute, Dublin player covers the ball on the ground and ref gives a throw up resulting in a Dublin point, then a few minutes later Flynn should have got the clearest free you'll see this year, doesn't and another Dublin point. Critical stage of the match and likely game over. Need luck and Kildare don't appear to be getting any today. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 01/08/2021 17:15:02 2366476 Link 1 |
I haven't watched a Leinster football game in ages, had a look now at Dublin v Kildare, jaypers what a bore! baire (Galway) - Posts: 1803 - 01/08/2021 17:21:30 2366479 Link 1 |
I've heard of head in the sand but the GAA must have their whole bodies in it to think the Leinster championship is worth retaining. 11 Leinster's in a row and won 16 of the last 17 titles on offer. The entire point of sport is competition and this is not it. PK57 (Louth) - Posts: 1653 - 01/08/2021 17:28:44 2366482 Link 1 |
Dublin sleep walking their way to another Leinster title, what has Jack O'Connor doing with Kildare?? Basic skills execution terrible and persisting with blanket defence when 7 points down, genius!

Awful watch. Kildare played well enough and without fear which was nice for a change. We were so far off our own high standards it quite worrying now. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8592 - 01/08/2021 17:40:46 2366491 Link 4 |
Me neither, I see puke football is alive and well.

It is. It is unkindly provided to us by Kildare.

If you want a bit of excitement, convince Con O' Callaghan, Ciarán Kilkenny and Cormac Costelloe to play hurling for Dublin! Haven't they won enough football medals!

I suggest you look at that incident again and consider why Cooper was lying on the ball. He got a boot to the side of the head (accidental) and Ref stopped play. Flynn was definitely fouled but the ref was allowing pulling and dragging tackles (should be called as fouls) all game, so at least he was consistent. Kildare could have been in contention if their shooting was better than junior B standard but easier to blame the ref. sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 683 - 01/08/2021 17:52:13 2366500 Link 3 |
Did you watch either of the U20 games this weekend or the Ulster Final in Croke Park? Gaelic football can be a brilliant game to watch.

If teams like Kildare want to revert back to a discredited blanket defence system and go out with the attitude that an 8 point defeat is something credible, then no opposition team is obliged to facilitate them by booting the ball back to them for the crack! Mayo will not be doing that so it will be completely different type of match. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 2557 - 01/08/2021 17:58:48 2366504 Link 3 |
Yes poor game as expected but what about Daniel Flynn. A joy to watch. Dubs did what they had to do. Kilkenny was excellent CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3676 - 01/08/2021 17:59:53 2366505 Link 0 |
Was a quiet boring game, it looked like one team trying to keep the score down and the other team just happy to keep possession. Daniel Flynn is some player. Hard to know did Jack O'Connor get tactics right, had he went for it and it went wrong we could have been in cricket score territory but go for it and things go right you could be more competitive. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1349 - 01/08/2021 18:00:33 2366508 Link 0 |
