Replying To sam1884:  "Offaly's great U20 team gives hope for Leinster football, if they come through, Dublin may have fell right into the pack by then and we might have a Leinster championship again. As for 2021 whilst the All Ireland is something different Dublin to win Leinster today by 12 - 15 points."
There new championship format for next season

I get the feeling the disruption of Covid has meant Dublin aren't as well prepared this season as others years (one of Dublin's biggest advantage for years is have been by far the best prepared team in the country) but having said that I've a bad feeling ahead of this game for Kildare.
With Dublin having received criticism following Meath match I think mentally they will be in a place to deliver a good performance today (I said this about Dublin after Wexford match but I think it's more applicable now).
I think also Kildare should be in a better position next year as a season in division 1 will improve them as a team but not having played in Division 1 for a few years will hurt Kildare today. I get the feeling that, at the current time people may be overrating how well Kildare did in getting to division 1. They only played 3 games in the regular league. Against us we only played for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and still it was only a last gasp close in save that denied us extra time (and afterwards I don't think they have played as well as I expected in their first 2 Leinster championship matches) . Their apparent injury situation makes things worse for them as they will really miss some talented players.
If Kildare can be competitive today it would be good for the Leinster championship going into next year but I've a feeling it won't happen.

Replying To TheFlaker:  "I would have given Kildare more of a chance if they had a full pick to choose from but missing 2 or 3 of their best players? If they get within 6 and ask some questions I would be happy from a Mayo point of view. The gap is certainly closing between Dubljn and the next 3 or 4."
Despite what some may say here, the gap most certainly has closed and we will be knocked off our perch very soon, either this year or next imo. I don't think it will be today mind but its coming.

I would expect a 5 or 6 point win for the Dubs. Would like to see a one or two point win though.

Dubs very static in attack. Slow possession, lack of runners.

Feel sorry for Kildare, great effort here. Four points the difference in the 41st minute, Dublin player covers the ball on the ground and ref gives a throw up resulting in a Dublin point, then a few minutes later Flynn should have got the clearest free you'll see this year, doesn't and another Dublin point. Critical stage of the match and likely game over. Need luck and Kildare don't appear to be getting any today.

I've heard of head in the sand but the GAA must have their whole bodies in it to think the Leinster championship is worth retaining. 11 Leinster's in a row and won 16 of the last 17 titles on offer. The entire point of sport is competition and this is not it.

Dublin sleep walking their way to another Leinster title, what has Jack O'Connor doing with Kildare?? Basic skills execution terrible and persisting with blanket defence when 7 points down, genius!

Awful watch. Kildare played well enough and without fear which was nice for a change. We were so far off our own high standards it quite worrying now.
Yet we won very easily?
Mayo must be getting a little excited now.

It is. It is unkindly provided to us by Kildare.

If you want a bit of excitement, convince Con O' Callaghan, Ciarán Kilkenny and Cormac Costelloe to play hurling for Dublin! Haven't they won enough football medals!

I suggest you look at that incident again and consider why Cooper was lying on the ball. He got a boot to the side of the head (accidental) and Ref stopped play. Flynn was definitely fouled but the ref was allowing pulling and dragging tackles (should be called as fouls) all game, so at least he was consistent.
Kildare could have been in contention if their shooting was better than junior B standard but easier to blame the ref.

Did you watch either of the U20 games this weekend or the Ulster Final in Croke Park? Gaelic football can be a brilliant game to watch.

If teams like Kildare want to revert back to a discredited blanket defence system and go out with the attitude that an 8 point defeat is something credible, then no opposition team is obliged to facilitate them by booting the ball back to them for the crack!

Mayo will not be doing that so it will be completely different type of match.

Yes poor game as expected but what about Daniel Flynn. A joy to watch. Dubs did what they had to do. Kilkenny was excellent

.

Was a quiet boring game, it looked like one team trying to keep the score down and the other team just happy to keep possession. Daniel Flynn is some player. Hard to know did Jack O'Connor get tactics right, had he went for it and it went wrong we could have been in cricket score territory but go for it and things go right you could be more competitive.
