Down wasting an awful lot of ball. Ulster sides have an awful habit of arsing about with the ball backwards, sideways then getting turned over.

Well done Roscommon. Only one team played in that second half and wanted to win the game. Down were bloody awful and deserved to lose. That Down performance is symptomatic of everything that is wrong with Ulster football currently. Meangingless over possession; tippy tappy handpassing, backwards, sideways, running blind up alleyways, losing possession, getting turned over and ultimately losing the game. Ulster football needs a complete psychological change in mentality. Ulster football is just rotten and very poor at the minute.

Total collapse and awful loss of discipline by Down.

Roscommon were brilliant and I hope they win the final.

I don't think so. Kerry will turn Tyrone over by 10+ points.

Down had the run of the game at the start of the second half and should have got themselves comfortably ahead but took a lot of poor options in front of goal. Once roscommon weathered that got themselves back in it there was only one winner. They fully deserved it and not good seeing down really lose their discipline. A few more could have got the line.
A very novel final altogether in offaly versus roscommon on the way.

Well done Roscommon. They hung in there, and got the result. Down did not convert all their possession into scores, and were caught. Two players on straight reds.

Would have agreed previously but ulster football was probably the most free flowing this year anyway. Great win for our lads and looking forward to facing offaly. Great occasion for both counties. Down fans who horrendous this evening. Booing amd blowing horns for our kickouts and frees. There players lost all discipline at the end and could have seen more reds no.22 anyway. A county I genuinely respect highly was disappointed to see

Well done Roscommon, looking forward to the final, good to see other counties getting to finals, hope it helps them both build for the future at senior level. Just got the end of the match this evening.

And the No.3 for his attempted assault at the end for the hop ball, horrible act. Great win for our lads though. Very proud of them. Let's hope they can finish the job next week, should be a great game with our neighbours.

The Ulster Championship is close and exciting because all the teams basically play the same way. However, as is now being demonstrated, when they step out of Ulster they are being badly exposed for the basic naivety of their play.

I was at a school's All Ireland "C" final in none other than Bréifne Park. Within 10 years back at a guess. It was Strokestown who won, and it was the 1st time I saw a Roscommon team in action. The footballers are there in your county, no doubt.

Did you notice your Man of the Match had his right eye closed during the interview on TG4 after the match?? Rewind the tape to 68:50 and keep an eye on no.22

It's Roscommon's third All Ireland U21/20 Final in 10 years. We lost the 2012 and 2014 Finals to star studded Dublin teams.

True, seen that near the end, Down needed a goal to draw level, should have driven the ball in to the edge of the square and hope for a lucky break, instead they are trying to play it through the hands, run into defenders and get turned over, Donegal do it a lot too, drives me nuts.
Down lads lost discipline near the end too, don't like to see that.

Ya I seen that, he struck out twice in quick succession. Not nice too see from young lads losing their heads like that. Even the first red card, what kind of an attempt was that to tackle?? Could have caused serious injury.

Stuck out twice using the finger. Not nice to see and that lad should see a nice suspension....but the nothing will happen. It'll take someone actually losing an eye for something to happen.

Would soccer have more of an influence in Ulster than other provinces? There was a basic lack of gaelic football intelligence in Downs play this evening compared to Roscommon, would be interesting to know how many from each side play soccer to any serious level.

Great game to watch. Rossies showed great heart to come back from what looked like a losing position. Some heroic turnovers and fight shown.

The end was a bit nasty, but wouldn't be too hard on anyone concerned. Maybe I'm getting old, but there seems to be less of a sporting strain in younger players. Often that carries over into failure or slowness to shake hands with opponents. All seems to be celebration within the group. Which is what you see now in some of the Olympic sports where there is none of that at all. Which is sad.

Final should be good. Would slightly favour Offaly.

No.22 Down got a yellow card for striking two Roscommon lads in the face, no more than 2 feet away from the linesman!
The handling of the closing stages of this match was poor to say the least. Was the ref playing the 70 minutes? Enjoyable game up to injury time though. I had expected a Down win but well done Roscommon.
