Thank you. Appreciate that from a Tipp man. Magnanimous in defeat. The only negative thing I'd say about Tipp is that they did collapse in that second half. The absolutely caved into what was big pressure. Their accuracy went...their legs went.

Superb comeback by Limerick, showed true heart and grit to pull that once back. Do well to see a better goal than Kyle Hayes's this year. I'm sure it will go down well in Kildimo-Pallaskenry. Super stuff. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 1893 - 18/07/2021 19:01:31 2361263 Link 1 |
You're wrong. There'll be no big reaction from Tipp supporters for losing this one and nor there should be. Enjoy the win and leave the rest of the stuff alone.

Limerick's indiscipline will cost them yet. Two reds today, no debate, they better tread carefully from now on. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1448 - 18/07/2021 19:12:50 2361276 Link 4 |
Awesome display by Limerick in the second half; skill, speed, strength, teamwork, intensity. They steamrolled Tipp. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2419 - 18/07/2021 20:12:45 2361330 Link 2 |
The supposed foul on Kyle Hayes was not a foul. Hayes did what most players do in that situation. He grabbed the tipp players arm under his and went to ground and unusually the ref saw it. No team in the country is in a position to complain about teams getting away with fouling because all teams are constantly fouling. You get away with some and others you don't. Standard of refereeing is poor in general, but as someone once pointed out to me, you get the refs you deserve. This limerick team are incredible, and Kyle Hayes is a freak of nature, and I mean that in a good way. You would be saying to players as he is, storming through to stop him, but he is near impossible to stop in full flow. I got a text at half time from a despondent limerick friend, and I just told him, tipp would not be able to maintain that level and limerick would up it because they can and they would win by 5 plus points. He now think I'm a genius, Im actually a spoofer but he will discover that out himself in time. We'll done again to limerick. It will take some team to beat them, and I don't think that team is out there. Hard luck to tipp.

I was at work and didn't see the Tipp-Limerick match but I checked the score at halftime and figured it was game set and match to Tipp. A monster comeback by Limerick. I picked Tipp to win. I was wrong. I'm glad I'm not the betting type. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2100 - 18/07/2021 21:14:52 2361374 Link 0 |

Well if you watch Limerick you will see they play it short and long and they will also go lateral and backwards. Diarmuid Byrnes often delivers long direct ball in to the forwards as does Hannon, in Gillane we have one of the best possession winners in the game. If you are just going to drive long aimless 50/50 Balls into the forwards all day you are not going to win matches but I guess you might be entertained while you lose.

Ah yes Richardkimble we both went down fighting at least. Glad you are feeling more positive about your own team than earlier in the year. For sure your county board should give equal priority to your hurlers. Laois only all Ireland is a hurling one.

We won a Leinster championship football game this year and only lost to the Dubs by 8 points. So relatively our footballers are ahead of your hurlers!

Great post! Great to see Limerick come back to win. Hopefully they can bring Liam back to the county this year.

Look, Limerick have come from ten points down or more down at least once in all but one decade since the early sixties, when playing Tipp. I was not panicking at all at half time.

Leaving that aside the 2nd half performance was arguably the best half of hurling we've seen sense peak Cody Kilkenny, Kyle Hayes goal was ridiculous in every positive way while some of the points were superb. Dalo was right tonight, pre game you'd say 5 point defeat for Tipp they can regroup well for the quarter final but the manner of that 2nd half turnaround will be a tough blow to recover from. bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 19/07/2021 01:19:47 2361476 Link 0 |
You're not a fan of hurling if you aren't a fan of Limericks style of hurling. The most difficult and ineffective style of hurling is Wexfords. Running around in silly semi circles and pointless overlapping. Amd of course with Wexford there's usually not enough class to finish any move. Limerick handpass the same as everyone else. They don't take anymore extra steps than anyone else. There is a CCCC still..dunno what silly underhand message your sending but do expand on how Limerick are 'impressive in other ways'. It would be nice to hear. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 19/07/2021 06:10:52 2361480 Link 0 |
Spot on with that foul. The ironic thing is that it was Dan McCormack who was tackling him - Dan being the best in game to engineer frees like a lot of people thought Hayes deserved there. Some of the podcasts have discussed these engineering of frees in hurling at length over the last few months. Perhaps highlighting it has brought it to the attention of the referees. Generally people say they are difficult to see but to me they're nearly always obvious. It's something that I'd like to see stamped out of the game - and before anyone says that's anti limerick it's not. Tipp are probably the best at it. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/07/2021 07:13:18 2361486 Link 0 |
Spot on. I left this forum for a few years due to all the negativity and I'll be doing the same again shortly if this keeps up. People whinging about one or two incidents. It's even worse when they state the people on the receiving end are diving or got what they deserved. I don't mind a bit of constructive analysis but rubbish like that shouldn't be allowed to be posted. It's rare that anyone actually analyses a score. For example Kyle Hayes scored a great goal but the back man in me will always look at what we could have done better and I thought limerick exposed tipps Brendan maher on numerous occasions. I really hope Ronan is moved back to his rightful position at. 6 for the rest of his career. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/07/2021 07:17:23 2361487 Link 0 |
