When they finally realized this was a no go at a very late stage some bit of normality began to appear here. I don't know who you are comparing us too but most countries in the EU are back to normality weeks ago compared to us as you can see from the European championships which our government filled the togs on."
You should be in charge of things lad. You're a great buck for telling everyone what's wrong with everything.Unfortunately though you haven't a clue how to fix anything.

Whatever happened to the 'flatten the curve' idea? it's well flat now, hardly anyone in hospital with it (maybe not even because of it)

That's what a forum is about, giving ones opinions. And you do it in spectacularly bad fashion with your multiple accounts. Aren't we all entitled to do so as well. Why don't you post under your real county profile name on the main forum. Not enough wisdom or analysing to be done I guess. What do you need me to fix sugar? I'd make a better fist of running the country than a bunch of medics, I expect medics to keep people healthy, not to dictate policy. That's my opinion. What's your opinion on it?

Wouldn't pay much attention to him republic.. I agree with you.. Probably 10s of 1000s agree with you also..
We've been dictated to about how to live for the best part of 18 months by a bunch of unelected doctors who have been given way too much power by a government terrified of making a decision all by themselves.. No one ever elected Tony Holohan to run the country.

The mental health impacts of lockdown are horrible and IMO worse than Covid. In my work I've heard of 80yr olds attempting suicide, 10 yrs olds going for counselling and every form of mental health issue in between as a direct result of the sanctions put on us.. So yeah, we should have crowds back at matches... Small group, Social distance, mask wearing if necessary but FFS people have given up so much.. A couple of 100 at a stadium that can hold 1000s shouldn't be a problem..

I dont think you would and theyre not reopening based on public health concerns and reducing deaths
and theyre not running the country.
the likes of hoolahan etc job is to dictate policy. theyre not a doctor dealing with patients day in day out. theyre determining and writing policy and advising government on health policy to follow.

You may swear that if the current opposition get into power that they will order the commission of a tribunal of enquiry yes."
So if Sinn Féin get into power they will order the commission of a tribunal of enquiry, that's your prediction.

I think if they get into power, they will have other far more important issues to focus on.

Even if your prediction is correct and there was a tribunal, apart from costing the tax payer hundreds of millions, what do you think a tribunal would achieve ?

Tell us all what you're telling us here for free ?

Tribunals are generally a waste of money and the last thing Sinn Féin would want, perfect ammo for their opposition to pull them down.

If his job is to dictate policy then he's failing completely on increasing hospital bed capacity for a growing population.

Okay then. A tribunal would give recommendations on the failings of the reaction of government to the pandemic and how to do better when the next inevitable pandemic comes along. The experts always say it's only a matter of time before another one arrives and that it will most likely be worse than the current coronavirus. When one comes along procedures would be in place that would lessen the blow.

I'm sure all the families who's mothers and wives died as a result of the cervical check cancer scandal think the head of nphet is wonderful and has done a wonderful job. Wouldn't put him in charge of a Junior D hurling team in Leitrim.

We all stayed at home to protect our elderly, if the vaccine works then open up as they should be protected and different variants me backside. Its different variants of the same thing. If the vaccine doesn't work then your dealing with something completely new to put it as simply as possible and this carry on of 50 thousand will died is horse manure. Unfortunately if your 80 and you get the winter vomiting bug or flu or anything else, there is a good chance you are going to die.

They also go on about the hospitals being over run, people were dying on trolleys in November 2019 and 90 year olds on trolleys for days and everyone seems to have completely forgotten the hospitals are over run every winter.

We are going to be paying for this for a long long time and the amount of people that will die from cancer and other life changing illness as a result of not having early detection will be

I think at this stage restrictions are fizzling out. End of July most adults will be vaccinated with at least one dose. This is no longer the same beast it was at christmas. Time to open up.

Skillet. If there was only say 3,000 allowed into say the Cork/Limerick, how would you decide who to give the tickets to. I can see holy war at club and county Board level, when that time comes.

Oldtourman, there are 100 people being left into club games at the moment..I'm pretty sure it's been s headache for organizers..I'm not arguing the point with you..is it not only 500 being admitted to lim/cork or is it depending on capacity?an idea worth looking at might be hospital front line to get tickets, surely no one would complain if done that way..then again this is ireland..
