Time To Allow Crowds In

All sports that I watch now there are very substantial crowds at them except in Ireland and the GAA. Massive grounds empty yet the streets are full if partygoers. Doesn't make sense. A bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss

There are now seven strains of human coronaviruses The Covid variant now named Delta, which was first detected in India, has been reported in 62 countries, The P.1,or Delta, has spread to 64 countries. Now is not the time to become complacent.

It's very probable the Covid jab like the flu jab may be an annual thing, we're in no position to take un-necessary risks, just yet.

Ireland is taking a slow approach but dont see that as a problem if it keeps cases and everything else lower
The streets are not full of partygoers. thats complete hyperbole.
we have had some of the first trial events with crowds and will have more over the coming weeks. if and when these are successful then hopefully we will see a return to more people attending more games in the weeks after these trials

Exactly right. If the OP wants a bit of commonsense, just read your post

that made me laugh when you say we're in no position to take unnescessary risks ......here's the reason why, fitzgerald stadium killarney had a handful of people scattered around a 40,000 stadium , yet you could walk out the gate of the stadium go a few hundred yards down the road and thousands of people out in shops pubs and streets. wheres the consistency there.

Can I respectfully ask what qualifications do you have to even suggest such a thing, think about it.

I was partaking in some outdoor dining yesterday. About 50 people in close proximity in an area not half as big as the first section of terrace in St Conleths park, You could easily and safely have 1000
Supporters at the match today.

Of course it's safe to let substantial crowds into the bigger stadiums, you're far closer to people in a retail setting for example and that's indoors, look at the crowds at the Euro soccer games, I don't see how they can justify not letting crowds back in, space them out wear a mask etc but lets start getting back to a more normal life.
Surely these antigen tests can be used for people wanting to attend outdoor sport or music events?
The dogs in the street know that Tony.

Careful now, you'll be asked to produce your many PhD's and qualifications for having an opinion like that.

agree 100% its ridiculous ...streets, shops and beer gardens in killarney packed and a handful of people inside in a 40,000 capacity stadium......

We are currently under the rule of a medical bureaucracy. They have no in depth knowledge of how people in the street are feeling, in fact they tell us how we should be feeling and no one should question them. The tribunals in the future over all of this will be lengthy and cost us a blue fortune.

tribunals because the medical people are keeping restrictions to reduce the number of people who get sick and die.. yeah thats going to happen

tribunal to look into what exactly?
The UK may have tribunals to investigate inaction by government that saw far more people die than should have as well as the awarding of contracts for PPE etc to friends of conservative party leadership but we wont.

Screenshot your wee post there because in years to come you'll have an egg on your face. If you think the pandemic was handled well in this country you're not at the races.

Compared to a lot of countries it was handled quite well.
What would you have done so differently?
Followed the british or swedish way of doing things? We've been very slow to emerge out of lockdown but overall the pandemic has been handled very well as rate of deaths has been kept very low which is the most important thing

The problem is not people inside the grounds but is instead people travelling together to games as well as crowds entering as well as leaving games at the same time.

Well it seemed they were trying to attempt a zero covid policy conveniently ignoring a large rather porous border to another jurisdiction on the island. When they finally realized this was a no go at a very late stage some bit of normality began to appear here. I don't know who you are comparing us too but most countries in the EU are back to normality weeks ago compared to us as you can see from the European championships which our government filled the togs on.

And who would initiate such a tribunal ?

You may swear that if the current opposition get into power that they will order the commission of a tribunal of enquiry yes.
