Replying To Canuck:  "Disagree. It is charging if you run at a player and hit him. Even in hockey that has a frontal hit that is called all the time. If the player is injured you are going to get a major suspension. Talk about static. You just described the rucks perfectly a school yard "stuck in the muck " melee. No moment of any source only free hands all over the place and scrambling for the ball like chickens for a grain of food. The ref policing. First of all give hime some support. The ref has a 90% better chance of determining if the elbows are used compared of his chances of knowing if the ball was thrown.
Zero tolerance for the free hands near another player. The use of a legal hit to dispossess a player. Sending off for continuous fouling. These few things will reduce frees significantly and a hurling match will break out. A little pain at first for some long term gain."
When did you last see a shoulder in a ruck ball situation?
I think that hockey is getting to you over there.

Exactly. I didn't it is not used because it will be blown up even if it is shoulder if the receiver falls down. With regards hockey. It is a great game like hurling with many similarities and differences. If you look at very early pictures of the game they were playing with hurleys. It is not perfect either and could learn from hurling and visa versa. They deal with simulation and sensible use of technology. The big difference is the players are paid millions and don't have to go to work the next day. So no, a GAA player could not endure the same physicality. They also have daily medical attention. Nothing is getting to me over here or over there. Just offering an opinion like everyone else on here.

Well I don't know when you last hurled a match, but I have hurled plenty of them in the last few years and know full well that a shoulder in the chest, no matter what nonsensical rules you suggest about elbows down and feet planted, is a sickener.
I don't see how a referee could prove that a player had both feet planted, we'd need VAR for that one for sure.

Nonsensical in your opinion. Okay. Am I supposed to be impressed that you played in the last few years. Okay I am also impressed. With regards your reference to me. When I played I could give and take a hit. You don't need to be impressed because those who played with me and against me were very much the same.
I have given examples for what it is far harder for the ref to prove at times. The ball been thrown, the ball went between the post. the ball crossing the goal line. You disagree and the is fine. Leave at that and don't make it about what you and I did.

Well done to our hurlers. They gave us a great game to watch and almost snatched a win but a draw is still a great result considering where the 2 counties have been in recent years. Great progress being made under Gleeson. Long may it continue!

Antrim v Wexford was a cracking match up and down the pitch, hard hitting, crowd involved, controversy and a lot of great scores. Hopefully a sign players and officials are getting up to speed and have shook off the cobwebs-well done to both team's.

Well done Antrim in battling back from a bad start to get a draw with Wexford and showing that their win over Clare was no flash in the pan.

Super game of Hurling this afternoon. Delighted Antrim have backed up the Clare performance. Hurling needs Antrim Hurling at the top level.
They've always had plenty of great Hurlers over the years but Gleeson seems to have gotten everyone on board with him. Hopefully they can make a dint in the championship.

Great game between antrim and wexford. The referring was poor I thought that he gave so many handy frees to wexford it was shocking. His job was made very difficult by davys dreadful behaviour on the sideline he should have been ordered to leave the stadium.

Yes, there were some ridiculous decisions against Antrim resulting in easy tap-over frees for Wexford. Also, surely Davy should not have been allowed to join the huddle for the second-half water break since he had been ordered off the pitch earlier?

I'd disagree about the ref. He should have given Wexford a penalty and sent off the full back after he dragged down the forward with a couple of minutes to go.

Great game though and Antrim are a good physical team well able to mix it.

Agree with you on Davy. He was out of order the whole way through the match.

Thought the ref was poor both ways. Exciting game but lots of mistakes! Draw a fair result!

its only a draw lol,, they didnt win at the end of the day and get the result that counted. Mcmanus should have got the line far sooner and he did set up the goal.

I disagree too. I could not believe he sent O'Hanlon off, McManus was the aggressor and there was zero evidence of his helmet being pulled off. The linesman went for the "it must have happened" rather than the "it definitely happened". You simply cannot send a player off unless you are sure he did something. Expect an appeal.

We were really poor in the second half. I think the nonsense on the line has more of an effect on his own team than the opposition.

Limerick look a different class from everyone.

Something need to be done about the distance someone can puck the ball.

A free is a point now. A unchallenged puck of the ball is a point. Scoring is way too high and not enough tackles.

Everyone is at the gym every week now. Either make the ball heavy, the ball less aerodynamic or the hurleys lighter.

Watching Limerick is so boring. The best game today was the two worst teams on TV - Antrim v Wexford. 90s was peak hurling.

Very entertaining game up at Corrigan Park today. Both sides would have cause to believe they were done by decision wise but there you go. We always had capable players in Antrim as our club sides have shown but now the management team has really got the players and clubs on board. Physically we are competing at this level and Brendan looks to have toughened the players up mentally as well. Our inter county skill levels have also come on leaps and bounds. What's wee Davey up to on the sidelines lol? He'll do himself an injury one of these days.

Cork made several changes tonight so certainly an element of shadow boxing, for how dominant Limerick were Cork could easily have got 2 or 3 more goals.

A bit harsh on Limerick, I think. Watching Cian Lynch in the form he was in tonight is worth the admission fee alone (if we could attend the games).
