I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Dublin v Kilkenny 3.30 pm, followed by Limerick v Tipp at 5.30 (I even get to watch Spurs play away to Leeds,12.30 kick-off). From a Kilkenny point of view, it's great to see Adrian Mullen back after 15 months out with a cruciate ligament injury. He was Young Hurler of the Year in 2019, and is still only 21 years of age.

Great to be back seeing hurling on our screens. Hopefully over the course of the league a few commentators and co-commentators can brush up on the names of players too! Shocking that Ollie Canning thought the yellow ball was brought in for games under lights!
Don't want to be complaining too much tho!
I'm not buying into the fact that this is a nothing league with shadow boxing going on. It's far too close to the championship for teams not to take it serious on some level. Not saying teams will be dying to top the group but they'll need to work towards performances. Unfortunately due to the condensed nature of the season a teams chances could be blown by a couple of injuries.
Was great to see Liam Rushe back and looking very fit. Many people including Dublin people had him written off on here last year. He's a beast of a man but he had one of those days too where he seemed intent on getting sent off!
Tipp picked a front 8 of a team with very few scorers so it was pleasing to get something from the game. Some interesting calls in goals and full back. If they're really interested in giving youth a chance they'll need to give these guys more game time.

It is a time for managers to experiment with formations and players before the Championship, and if the intensity is not as high as the Championship, this is down to players not yet being fully match fit. But, every player who takes the field knows this is his chance to prove to the manager that he deserves to be in the starting 15 come the Championship.

It was great to see the league back yesterday. I think it gave GAA fans a huge lift. The water break really should go and the GAA need to re-visit the advantage rule.
Tipp Limerick was a close game and could have gone either way. As a game it was littered with frees - which ultimately took from the spectacle.
Galway Westmeath was a turkey shoot. How were these leagues decided? The fact that it is the provincial championship with only 1 alteration of note, is ridiculous.
On a general point, the amount of players now leaning in to the tackler, making it look like they are being fouled, and/or falling over, is sickening. Every team is at this. Because a free is an easier thing to score than a score from play. That said, it happens in club games as well. Hurlings "men of honour" is a false belief for the deluded.
In general, I don't think anybody will lose sleep over what happens this weekend. Its the first day out and the league has never looked less significant than this year.

Great to see intercounty hurling back! Standard not too bad bearing in mind all the panels are only back together 3 weeks. Good to see Davy giving alot of the fringe players starts against Laois and some of them played very well.

Hopefully they can build on this and start to make some real progress. I would love to see Antrim back competing at the level they were at in the late 80s and early 90s.

It's a brilliant win for us but also very important. This will instill some confidence in the squad as we've been badly lacking in this in the past; the heads have gone down too easy previously. We've also struggled with the physical intensity at this level. Gaelic Games are on the up in Antrim particularly in Belfast. There's some great work going on at all levels and we've a lot of young, dedicated, enthusiastic players in both codes. If we can get and keep good coaches we can make a lot of progress.

great for Antrim, but seriously is it that big of a surprise? Sambo Mcnaughten said a few months ago this was the best antrim team since the early 90s.
Clare have never reached the heights of what they should have since 2013 and have just muddled through the last eight years, none of you can deny that. they play an extremely boring game, never hurl off the cuff (they have the players or had). Had an OK year in 2018 but Galway were a tired team and did run them of the park in the first halves of those games. Even last year year against Laois in the championship laois could have pipped them. Tony Kelly was pulling them through games. There are an enigma of hurling for the last 10 years now with the talent they did possess at underage that never came to fruit in senior. No team is ever going to get it easy going up to the glens either so i cant understand all this shock to the result.
It just further shows how lopsided the groups are in Div. 1. Westmeath have been truly thrown in the deep end. Clare, Antrim, Laois, Dublin are all beatable!

Great win today but that physical intensity is so crucial any more. Waterford lost today, looked leggy but my God they are built like tanks compared to last year. We will see where that gets them.
