McKenna has prior regarding anything to do with Dublin. This is the type of headline he lives for. Best avoid today if you're a Dublin supporter. Take the hit and move on. Bigger things happening in life than a kick about in a field or on a beach or up a mountain tbh.

10s of thousands marching around during a pandemic being governed by a large Police presence in close proximity in open air conditions deemed perfectly safe and applauded. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 01/04/2021 11:42:22 2335541 Link 4 |

Wouldn't heed anything on McKenna, an individual who's ego is inflated by the narrow minded people who endorse him on Twitter, the man is an oracle of negativity. bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 01/04/2021 11:47:08 2335544 Link 2 |

Whilst I agree that not much harm from a health perspective will ensue from this I think the GAA will need to make a stand here. Dublin are the marquee team of the GAA and setting the right example comes with that territory. This training session, even if it was just a kickabout, sends the wrong message completely to the rest of the GAA. It also gives ammunition to anti-GAA people who would argue that we can't be trusted to abide by regulations and to do things safely. I would expect some fines and suspensions coming the Dubs way. It could just as easily have been somebody with a phone who knew what was happening and who went to the paper with the photos. April the 1st is still in the air but I think this is too serious an issue to act the cod over.

One of many counties at it I'd imagine. Storm in a tea cup and suits anti-Dubs agenda by begrudgers. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2685 - 01/04/2021 11:59:46 2335552 Link 5 |

I think that's it. If same was to happen in Meath I'd say the same thing. So close to having gaa return in may, to do something silly like this will only amplify the anti gaa crowd (who have crawled out from under their rocks) in huge numbers lately. Need a strong signal to be sent out. Regardless of county

No doubt Might as well add to the ridiculousness of it all at this stage Rules are rules and a precedent was already set with Cork and Down Dublin footballers beings the benchmark of excellence in our sports will need to bring with it an example. Which is perfectly justified in all this silliness at this stage. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 01/04/2021 12:02:29 2335556 Link 1 |

The man has gone down a dark path sense then, now an Irish media outlet wouldn't go near him, Irish independent, pundit arena etc. all cut ties

Yes I agree Although no stronger an example that was handed out to Cork and Down. A precedent was set and should be applied. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 01/04/2021 12:04:29 2335559 Link 1 |

Not looking for a desired reaction here, just giving my opinion like everyone else is. I think this is completely irresponsible only hours after the GAA top brass requested nobody do what these players did. It gives ammunition to the people who detest the GAA to begin their usual attacks on them. If a group of players who will walk to another all Ireland this year can't abide by simple instructions from their sporting bodies bosses, then why should club players etc bother. I will walk or exercise on my own within my 5km, like these fellas should have been doing.
