I don't condone the breach of covid 19 guidelines, and a fine should be imposed. But the Indo newspaper is not a fan of the GAA. They are Rugby and football supporters. So please bear that in mind. If this is true then it is rather stupid on Dublin's behalf; to break the rules this close to intercounty teams being allowed to train. Paddy Tally got 12 weeks reduced to 8 weeks for something similar plus Down lost home advantage for their league games. If the crimes match then the GAA will have to administer the same level of punishment. Given the ubiquity of mobile phones it was a crazy thing to do. I would very much doubt that they are the only county breaking the rules. The decision to revoke the elite status of senior inter county teams was both discriminatory and wrong. The Irish women's rugby is principally made up of amateur players who live and work in the community. They are training and will be travelling to play Wales on April 10th. France will be here on April 17th. The Women's National Soccer League is being played. It is entirely amateur. Half of the clubs in Division One of the LOI are amateur. That league starts this weekend. All of that being said The GAA issued directives on the basis of the government revoking the elite status of senior inter county players. Dublin have broken those directives. I believe sanctions have to applied. Dublin have previous in relation to falling foul of directives on training from The GAA . It's not that long ago that we were told that a trip to France was for cultural and historical purposes as opposed to training. That one worked and Dublin avoided sanctions being applied to them. Other counties may be at it but it was Dublin fellas who were caught rapid, by a newspaper who are usually so nice to them. It's great viewing.
