Replying To Galwaymaster9:  "Horan doesnt really do defensive football, having said that he has unearthed a few gems..
I think they will beat Dublin by a few points..
O Connor is unremarkable at the moment.."
O' Connor is "unremarkable".

4:09 is not too shabby.

Replying To if_in_doubt:  "Did anybody really expect it to be any different?

A team who beat Division 4 (after extra time) and Division 3 teams by the grand total of 4 points up against one of the best teams in the country over the last number of years.

Mayo completely switched off during the 2nd half, particularly after the water break and still strolled around controlling the ball.

Another clear example of the gap between the top teams and teams considered to be middle bracket. Also a strong argument against going back to knock out football for anyone who wants to see competitive games during the latter stages of the championship."
You neglected to mention that they also beat a Division 2 team, Clare, by three points - the same Clare that will be playing Mayo in Division 2 next year. So league form and positions mean little when it comes to championship, as Monaghan and Donegal found out. Furthermore, the Super 8s system certainly doesn't guarantee "competitive games", as we have seen all too clearly over the last couple of years.

Show a bit of respect for what it was. Time and a place for that type of thing and commenting on that moment like that shows a lack of respect."
I completely agree.

Shame you weren't around a couple of weeks ago

Where (the nonsense I posted above) was thrown at the Dublin team and then some

They were even accused of only doing it to boost their personal profiles

I went easy on Tipp in comparison

Just shows the level on here when it comes to Dublin GAA

Highly prejudiced hatred but we've heard it all on here over the years

I think Horan is a good manager and like all the top managers in the country will have spent most of the lockdown working out how to try and beat Dublin in the all-ireland final should they make it that far. I'm sure Keane, Bonner Harte and the others were doing the same.

Maybe I am naive but I felt that Mayo played the way they did today was because they felt that the intensity in the tackle would turnover a lot of ball and enable them to risk being exposed at the back in one on one situations. There is no way they would expect that would work against the Dubs so I at the very least expect them to have a different set up planned for the final.

I would also expect them to have several plays and strategies for dealing with trying to win their own kick-outs. They know Clarkes limitations and the way Dublin will close down the short kickout options so hopefully would have worked on that all year. Why show their hand in the last 20 mins of a semi final when they were up by 20?

Astonished to learn only today that Cillian O'Connor has only 1 all star, similarly how Connolly only got 2 in his whole career.

It could not be more appropriate, the Tipperary team lead by their captain laying a wreath in memory of their fallen footballer Michael Hogan and others. Dublin did likewise two weeks ago. Your post is only a reflection of yourself.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
For your information I have always been high in my praise of Dublin and I don't think any non dub on here has sung their praises as much but that's irrelevant.
Your post left a bit of a sour taste

Mayo defense was a shambles today, conceding 10 goal scoring chances to Tipp....unheard of in the game nowadays. They have difficulties winning their own kickouts and will need huge improvements against the Dubs. Now the Dubs do not play a direct running attacking game so will unlikely create as many goal scoring opportunities as Tipp as the Dubs meander all over the full width of the pitch before eventually getting into a point shooting position.

Jimbo and Bejasus, I agree with a lot of what you both say. I think its 50/50, Its an awful shame that it won't be the normal celebrations this year, especially for Mayo.

Best of luck to Mayo in the final, which will be contested by the two best teams left in the championship.
We could have scored more goals yesterday, and conceded less goals.
But we gave it everything and great credit to the Tipp team for fighting all the way to the end.

They're the worst two teams left in the Championship as well !!

Some very poor defending yesterday, as well as some great chances missed. Mayo will need to be much better in the Final to crack this Dublin side.

They'll go nuts regardless :)

The Irish Government should prioritise getting the COVID-19 vaccine to Mayo supporters to allow them their deserved opportunity to celebrate if they beat Dublin

Supporters will be allowed in. Dessie has also made this request / demand.

Once the dubs shout they'll be listened too.
