Tipperary V Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Enough talk of the juggernaut that is Dublin. Let's talk of the fantastic footballers that Tipperary have.

If Tipp can get going, and not concede goals I think they will out shoot Mayo for points. Tipperary's biggest problem is depth. They have made a lot of progress on that in recent years - but an injury or a black card or two would be very problematic for them.

Mayo seemed to have snuck in under the radar this year. All the hoo la baloo about Dublin, Tipp and Cavan making breakthroughs. Mayo are back in an All Ireland semi after beating the division 2 winners and a team that finished 3rd in the league with much fuss.

I rely fancied Tipperary against Cork. I just have no idea what Mayo will turn up.

As a Connacht man I really want Mayo to win but there form especially in the forwards has been very up and down. They will need a huge improvement on previous performances (and be much more clinical) to win today as Tipperary forwards will cause them a lot of trouble.

Think Mayo will be a bit cuter than Cork and will win by 5, Tipperary main men are outstanding but Mayo are better balanced and better options off the bench

If it's all put into context mayo have beating 2 teams that's going to be In division 1 next year at there ease. And destroyed leitrim who were in the same division as tipperary. Tipp on the other hand were very looky to beat division 4 limerick and just held on against Clare. And at the end of the day cork was another division 3 team they beat. Should be only one clear winner here in my opinion

I find this very hard to call. Tipp have 2 forwards that are much better than anything Mayo have and are stronger at midfield as well as having a better goalkeeper. Both teams have good backs and Mayo's forwards are better than what Tipp have after Sweeney and Quinlivan. Mayo are obviously used to competing at a much higher level than what Tipp are and have great power in the 2 half lines. If Tipp believe in themselves enough I think they will win out by 2 points and make it a repeat of the pairing of the 1920 final. The general consensus is Mayo but how good are they really? They've beaten 2 average teams in Roscommon and Galway and for me that's not enough to drastically improve what I thought of them before the championship. We will see.

Don't agree that they have snuck in really. Beat reigning champions and another division 1 side away from home to get here. Maybe there hasn't been so much talk about them because it's not a surprise to see them at this stage of the competition. Plenty of experience with a very good manager, they won't be caught out today. Mayo by 6

Think Mayo will win, but did they beat Galway at their ease??

I expect a much closer game today, can't rule Tipp out, Mayo seem to save themselves for us, should be good hopefully.

I like a lot of the Tipp footballers but to be honest I think Mayo are too ferocious in the tackle and will win a lot of turnover ball. Mayo's biggest problem so far this championship has been a bit of wastefulness in my view but I think they will have too much for Tipp.

Hoping for a great game, best of luck to both sides

I know there was only a point in it but it was a game they never looked like losing I think

I think its different when it's a big derby match like that anything tends to happen

25 minutes in and this game is over. Mayo stronger, moving the ball through the lines well, ruthless.

Pretty sure that in addition to being leading scorer of all time in championship Killian O'Connor is now the leading goal scorer as well. Ruthless - the most underrated player in Ireland perhaps?
