Galway V Limerick

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "I think most Gslway supporters do not expect us to win on Sunday but in the past, Galway teams have often won when least expected so we still have the hope! I thought the All Ireland final this year would be Limerick vs Galway with Limerick probably winning. Nobody likes losing but if it is to happen I would prefer it to be in the semi final. But I do think the winner of the All Ireland will come from this semi final and if we beat Limerick we will do the rest."
I'd be amazed if Galway aren't quietly confident. I think they've been quite impressive this year. People are hinting that this limerick team is more experienced now that Galway have some new faces in their team. I'm not so sure. Limerick haven't all that much experience in Croke park and Galway have won a lot of games there. Shane ONeill comes across as a very impressive manager and I think they'll have enough to do it. However, I do think the Galway bench is a fair bit weaker but then the limerick bench has has had hardly any Croke park game time either.
Both teams are basically playing with only one player who is completely comfortable in their full back lines so I really hope there's goals in this one

It certainly would be an interesting game. I'm sure Waterford would love another crack at Limerick. I don't think Limerick would let them back in if they put a first half display like earlier.

Replying To keeper7:  "Young Cooney at corner back for Gaillimh looks dodgey to me. The goalie was better against Tipp than V KK."
Flanagan starting is a sure sign they want to try isolate Gillane on cooney but whether Galway will allow that I'm not so sure. Limerick will see it as a win win tho if Gillane does play at 13. If burke goes on him then limerick may just sacrifice Gillane which maybe mad to say

No one could begrudge Waterford but I don't think they'll be favorites to beat Galway or Limerick.

I sat among Galway supporters in 2017 and they were apologetic to beat us. I am sure if they win tomorrow they will try to beat us again. Limerick or Galway would not begrudge us but sentiment does not come in to it. We will have to go out and win it on the field. There will be no charity. Lets hope the Gods give us a little help as well.

Replying To blackspot91:  "Traditionally you would say that teams coming in the back door had the momentum after winner a few games in a row while the provincial champs waiting for 5 or 6 weeks. But for this game, I don't think you could say the same. Limerick have just beaten 3 great Munster rivals in a row over the last month with there last game only 2 weeks ago winning a cup, so I'm not sure how you could argue Galway have more momentum when they're only on a 1 game winning streak compared to Limerick's 8 game winning streak.

I think one or two weeks makes no different to momentum but it is different in that the team with 2 weeks has more recovery time."
Some great food for thought in that post!

Was chatting a Galway legend from the '80s in a shop the other day........and he reckons the Galway full foward line will score 5 goals, BC 1, CC 2, CW 2!!

Waterford wont be favourites but whoever wins today will have to match their intensity over 70 minutes. Galway and Limerick are obviously well able to do that, and are I think slightly better than the next bunch of counties at the moment, but alot will depend on whether they do it on the day. Same as today's game- I think Limerick are favourites but I had them stronger favourites last year against Kilkenny......

True, it must be earned. Both Lk and Galway have had lots of misfortune in Croke Park and won't want another one this year. However, all neutrals will be shouting for WD and rightly so.

Good analysis, make no mistake about it both teams will give it everything. Both teams are good but both are not as good as people think. A poor KK team has beaten both . For me limerick are physically stronger in the middle so they could run riot over Galway. Galway are always threatening to go on a goal feast ,will it be today? We have not had extra time in any televised Game this year so maybe today is it. This game is two close to call , limerick are Favourites but only by virtue of being Munster champions . One thing for sure the game wont be over until the last puck of the game is my pridection. Fingers crossed that it's the west awake that will be sang on the way home.

I think Limerick with a few points to spare. They have handled everything they faced this year without much fuss. Galway will need goals Whelan and Mannion are the keys for Galway. If they can get 3 goals between them Galway have a good shot. Limerick's bench is strong and I think in nearly every game played today the full 5 subs are used or very close to it.

I think Gakway will need a good lead heading into the last 10 minutes to win it but that's not impossible. Still fancy Limerick though

Limerick well on top, height strength looking like winners. But Galway only 2 points down so still there. But but but Limerick could pull away in second half

Ref thought the Joe Canning foul was an attempted clearance by a Limerick player. I thought it was a foul.
