Replying To katser:  "The fustrating thing is that Galway completely underperformed...only about half the team played well yet the opponents stumbled over the line by the skin of their teeth while playing at their best!
Poor team selection and management decisions cost us the game.
Hegarty should have got straight red as it was intended to do harm.
Karma got Guillane in the end (ending up in hospital when he acted the big man )"
This is hilarious. Only about half the Galway team ever perform because they just don't have the players... Limerick didn't play well and the 3 points flattered Galway. Stop this sweeper rubbish and go toe to toe. 10 points from play... Not good enough. Stop whingeing about about slaps of hurls and red cards.

Thanks ACR. Good to see a person whose opinions reflect those of the vast majority of Galway sports people. The future must be good for Galway having Four minor All Irelands in a row.

Replying To All_square:  "Congrats to JP and the lads, the better team won. Its wonderful to see a team overcome a limited hurling population and limited underage success in 5-10 years. Great to see the investment pay off.

Looking forward to seeing them beat Waterford now.

Please God the travel restrictions will be over soon to allow JPs lads enjoy their holiday in his resort in Barbados.

Its a pity the Galway county board couldn't come up with a few extra bob to keep Micheál Donoghue's preferred strength and conditioning coach last year and maybe C. Mannion wouldn't have had to limp off."
Thanks for the good wishes All -square. Galways day in hurling will come again.

Of course they were...they were flat to the mat and gassed out at the finish!! They had to empty the bench in pure panic to stumble over the line against a Galway team playing at 50%!

Next time Limerick may not even allow them that 50%,say well done Limerick with a little graciousness and show some sporting example, whingeing has never won a game and will never win a game but if you believe it will keep it up!

They always empty the bench and they pulling away at the finish. The sides were level at 70 minutes and Limerick were three points ahead nine minutes later. There was only one team gassed out at the end and it certainly was not Limerick.

Replying To carlowman:  "Well done Limerick yesterday on a massive win against a very good Galway team.
On the incidents that are being discussed, certainly the ref and the linesman missed Hegarty's contact with Joe. To me, it was awkward, late and not a realistic attempt to hook. We had the advantage of slow motion - a few times!
It is often very difficult to measure or determine the level of intent of a player in such an incident, and I think overall that if the incident was seen clearly by the officials then it should have been a yellow for careless use of the hurl. Yes he did strike but to me it was awkwardness and he got him with the flat of the hurl and I don't think that this incident represented an attempt to hurt or injure the player. For the most part those days are long gone where a player or team actually try to take a player out of the game due to the threat that that player presents.

The hurl that was broken... it is about time that we had two players actually trying to strike a ball along the ground... the hurley carriers are almost redundant now!

All that I have talked to about the game admire the physicality, deftness of touch, the tactics and above all the precision of pass and the scoring exploits of this top class Limerick team. This team from Limerick are currently at the top of their powers and people admire them... Limerick lads would want to relax and enjoy their new found status as favourites this year for the Liam McCarthy and enjoy the short build up.

We are lucky to have our games this year!"
Thank you for your unjaundiced view Carlowman!

Believe me Galway don't have any near the financial clout of limerick Wexford and tipp, our county board lost millions on mountain south. Donohue was being asked to run the team on a shoe string less than a quarter of the average top county team. He would have stayed but the county board did not want to spent the money required!

Aaron Gillane should also have got a straight red, the amadan, for tipping the Galway goalie. It is amazing he wasn't at least booked with two umpires right alongside him. He still hasn't got rid of that part of his game. A bit more maturity and he will as lethal as he is capable of.

No more than in the final of 2018, Limerick were much the better team for the majority of Sunday's match, and it would have been something of a travesty had Galway won in 2018 or on Sunday, not that I would have been complaining. I like what Shane O' Neill is doing with this Galway team, and I have no doubt that they will be there or there about for the next few years, but the years of one team dominating are long gone, and it will get harder and harder to win the Liam Mc Carthy every year. Yes Limerick look a seriously impressive side, but unlike when Kilkenny were in their pomp, there are plenty of other teams willing to challenge.

Agree. Hopefully he learns a lot from this year though ie leaving sweeper for full game v Limerick played right into their hand. Also goalie needs huge work on pock outs.

Absolutely dead right gilly even Jackie Tyrell is on record as saying that the championship is even harder to win now.

ACP. We in Limerick also know all about it with U21s early in this Century but as Cork, for years and even KK now are finding to some extent that if you are not winning them you are going nowhere.

Get the names right!

There was no complaining in Waterford about cynical fouling, a player getting jabbing in the groin only genuine admiration for a great Limerick team. We have long ago learned that using crutches for not been good enough only inhibits your from getting better. Of course Limerick now will have a bulls eye on their back by us and everyone else and believe we can and will beat them. Unfortunately they will be subject to the pull them down brigade off the field like Kilkenny were and Dublin now also.
