Could have done with spending a few quid on the pitch... if_in_doubt (Kildare) - Posts: 3691 - 03/02/2019 13:56:25 2161964 Link 2 |
Wexford v Cork will be shown on TG4 later, wait til you all see the state of the place. Another scandal 890202 (Wexford) - Posts: 1278 - 03/02/2019 14:51:57 2161984 Link 0 |
Omg that pitch is embarrassing , how can it be so bad? Surely the Croke Park pitch people can go clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 03/02/2019 17:26:14 2162064 Link 2 |
Doesnt look good, must be having the same problem as Wembley when that was first opened, took a few years to get that right, also remember croke park being an ice rink for years before it was improved PyatPree (Cork) - Posts: 376 - 03/02/2019 17:52:42 2162084 Link 1 |
Must have taken ages to paint that silage green

8 months on from its first game, Cork County Board have one figure for PUC redevelopment & Croke park have another, a €25Million difference, 8 months on & they don't even know & can't even agree what the final figure is, it beggars belief & stinks to high heaven. Will the true facts ever come out ? The pitch today was a disgrace, a brand new surface that will cost another six figure sum to re lay & it looked like a scene from the Ploughing Championships. A shambles. Uimhir.a.3. (Galway) - Posts: 409 - 03/02/2019 18:30:06 2162116 Link 0 |
Would anyone be against a 4g astro pitch? PyatPree (Cork) - Posts: 376 - 03/02/2019 18:41:55 2162122 Link 0 |
Should they harrow it or graze it.... ? murrax (Wexford) - Posts: 90 - 03/02/2019 18:59:22 2162138 Link 0 |
Looked like they had already started the harrowing, felt sorry for all the players today.

Better not play anymore games there, until sod issue is fixed. ...Cork GAA initially thought that they could attract high profile games to a top venue, which is why the stadium was built. Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 03/02/2019 21:09:30 2162255 Link 1 |
25 million sure that's nothing. It wouldn't pay for a car park in a children's hospital. mclovin88 (Galway) - Posts: 35 - 03/02/2019 22:00:44 2162294 Link 1 |
Apart from the pitch itself which is a disgrace, its a fine stadium to watch a game. 11jm11 (Kildare) - Posts: 367 - 03/02/2019 22:20:34 2162305 Link 0 |
One would first want to see the cost associated with Croke Park-they have difficulty keeping it right with a heating system and lights. How may people are employed maintaining that CP pitch cutting it every day!. It is a bit of joke though that a pitch with a coat of grass cannot be constructed, something clubs all over the country can do without huge cost. Maybe we should have given it to the 'experts' building the hospital, or perhaps pull in Ross for a bit of free advice.

they could probably hold the ploughing match in it this year, itd be a great use for the pitch, bring in some much needed revenue, and get the thing ploughed on the cheap.

Sad but probably true knowing the government

No machinery needed just walking on it in parts anyway would do. Best way i could describe it was as if you flattened the dry sand on a beach sprayed it green and played on it. Plus did anyone notice the terraces about a third of way up in both ends there was a line of grime as if there had been water in it for a while then drained? Did I hear somewhere that the pitch is below the level of the river??

It's awful to watch a game from there on TV too when the terraces behind the goals are empty the flight of the ball gets lost an awful lot 890202 (Wexford) - Posts: 1278 - 03/02/2019 23:59:49 2162341 Link 0 |
That actually might be a good idea, and be more entertaining than watching Cork league games in February.

Looks like will Cork will fall a bit more. Prior to 2007 they hit Division 3, and it looks like that is where we are heading again. Nobody really cares, because interest in football is rock bottom. Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 04/02/2019 03:26:00 2162352 Link 0 |
I really can't think of a worse county ground anywhere in the GAA world. In fact I would say that probably every GAA club ground in Cork has a better pitch.... cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1688 - 04/02/2019 13:01:52 2162477 Link 1 |
