There is little point in having a great stadium that cost double what is should have cost (at all our expense) when you do not have a pitch to play on. Furthermore, with a properly costed / built facility Cork could have had two centre of excellence - located within the county to facilitate both hurling and football which a county like Cork the requires.

Have the league games been moved out of the new Pairc into Pairc UiRinn. I'll be travelling down and was looking forward to seeing the new stadium but looks like it'll be in PUR

Tickets.ie still has it down as Pairc Ui Chaoimh, but i think with the state of the pitch they'll announce all games will move to Pairc Ui Rinn eventually

Can i try get a hold of the facts. Why sis the pitch bad? What contractor built it. Was there a pitch consultant on board? Did they play on it too earlier?

Also, it looks like the overspend was closer to 10 million euro's, rather than 25 million, if I'm reading things right. Still a significant overspend, but alot less than the 25 million overspend figure originally quoted.

Will they publish the report & the breakdown of the figures in the interests of transparency ? It's no longer commercially sensitive, Will they stand over this figure as the definitive final figure.

They have only an estimate of the final spend. That's all it is. The real figure won't be known for a good while. 10 million doesn't seem too bad in comparison to other things. Plus they are still deciding on weather to take up the pitch now or wait until after the championship.

Yes, that is the key word in the statement "estimated". One fact that is indisputable & adds to the fiasco is that the Croke Park official had one figure, the Cork County board official had a second figure & now the report with an estimated third figure, take your pick, the lucky dip school of economics.

Looks like the facts are going to have to be dragged out kicking & screaming in relation to this project. In today's Indo in the courts section, the following is stated "according to an affidavit filed with the High court, a senior official was kept on by the Cork County board for a year longer to deal with contract disputes. Sources have also said the final sum to be paid for floodlighting & electrical arrangements is among a number of "high value elements" still under negotiation."
So following figure 1 from Croke Park, figure 2 from Cork County Board, figure 3 from Committee to produce a final report, is there going to be figure 4 ?
Why can't we have the final figures published & transparency on the issue, what's to hide ? What have the GAA to fear by publishing the facts, the stadium is long completed so it can't be about commercial sensitivities unless there is something untoward. The silence, lack of detail & controversy after controversy only leads to a vacuum where speculation becomes rife, people start speculating on the various tenders, were they upfront, were their conflicts of interest, was anyone in charge, is there something untoward, is this why they voted no to transparency at Congress, the facts need to come out. Following the investment of €30 Million of Taxpayers money, the taxpayers are entitled to answers & facts, so the PAC needs to drag in all parties & get the facts & figures published.
