Anti GAA Agenda

If the IRFU can give him a better deal he should go with that... but he's not stupid... he knows Croke Park would sell out, it wouldn't be touted otherwise. The GAA should hold tight and negotiate the deal they want... not the other way around."
So much for 'holding tight'. Is there no end to the incompetence at the top of the GAA. Here was a chance to earn big money from an empty stadium, and they blew it.

Are you having a laugh? Katie Taylor couldn't finish a warm up with the greatest athletes ever never mind be listed anywhere near them. The 'Ole Ole' brigade is obviously still in full swing.

A minority sport getting the venue it deserves.
The celebrity bandwagon who have no interest in the sport can watch on TV as they usually do anyway.

Not sure what u are wondering about.

GAA teams use facilities from loads of sports organisations all over the country. No big deal, just communities helping each other out. Generally the same parents, a mix of the same players etc.

Obviously all clubs put their own interests first but generally there is never any issue.

However when it is the other way around it ends up on message boards and it is like a referendum.

Local clubs should be free to make decisions that suit them at a local level. If they can raise a few quid renting stuff out when it is not being used great.

Hearn was trying to get the state to put up a substantial part of the costs!

Good luck. Cheeky yoke.

Sad to say, that the GAA had even facilitated him to the extent that they said they had "ring fenced" dates in the Summer!

Would that be the season now, to which the restricted inter county championship is now "ringfenced" into?

God forbid, that hurling and football interfere with all the other stuff.

I lived up east for several years and IMO the cross-section of both GAA/LOI fans seems fairly slim up there. There is a section of the soccer public for whom the "Yeh can stick your gah up your ****" mentality lives on.

There is also a GAA dinosaur type out there who objects to GAA members playing anything other than gaelic games, but they are a dying breed as far as I can see."
True and there is also soccer brigade who dont like gaa still exists less thank god but still exists

I do not think gaa is blame for fight not going ahead in croker like the gaa has big pr issues and decision making issues but Hearn tried to pull fast one on them yes it would be great but Hearn too concerned making money at all costs but cant just take over the ground and not expect a cost. Yes that is part of his job but

She is obviously at the top of her sport. The issue here however is an agent for people - not least himself! - who are going to make a pile out of this event even in a smaller venue with TV rights etc - trying to get you and me to pay part of their fees!

Get up the yard.

Well you did say it. You are aware of the calibre of athletes that can be mentioned amongst 'greatest ever'? It doesn't include boxers with 22 pro fights, some of those against semi pros with day jobs. Even going back to the Olympics she won a gold against a talent pool comparable to the Antrim county championship with 'world title' put in front of it. Has she done good things for local boxing? Sure. But to be put in a league with Ali, Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong (had over 100 knockouts on his record) etc etc etc etc and that's just her own sport. You get the picture?

Personally I've never bought into the hype around her.

To get to where she is obviously required talent and hard work etc However she's been given a lot of advantages that people don't like to talk about.

She won an Olympic gold medal as essentially a professional. The start of her professional career her fights where careful picked out for her.

There's likely both male and female boxers just as talented as her who have never been given the same opportunity as her.

She did what top boxers in Olympics from a lot of other strong boxing nations did. She won an Olympic medal in same fashion as boxers from Cuba etc. Cuba has such a strong record in Olympic boxing because of huge government investment.
Her record in professional career is excellent and her fights were carefully selected at the start just like they are for any boxer. Male or female.

Go on then name all these greatest athletes Katie Taylor would struggle against
KT played senior international football for Ireland. If she wasnt so involved in boxing could have travelled to US on scholarship as a runner. She is certainly up there with one of the best athletes in this country
