Just as well you didn't get your way in the naughties or there would be no dome in Connacht now. I think you'll find that when clubs share facilities they charge and the revenue stream can come in handy. And it works both ways. Many GAA clubs using facilities of other sports. Same kids and parents going to all the different sports. No one should get a freebie but cooperation can be mutually beneficial Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1921 - 25/01/2022 19:01:14 2396464 Link 1 |
I'm not talking about co-operation at local level which my club also participates in. I am referring to the FAI and others fantasising about hosting competitions that they have no capability of doing. and to the Dublin FAI who hate the "grab all association" but are the biggest grabbers of all with two gifts from the local authorities that they share with no-one! RTE Late Late show last night given over almost completely to Six nations rugby. And it is over a week away. If you want to complain to RTE: galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2614 - 29/01/2022 13:14:13 2396957 Link 7 |
You don't mean to be a rugby basher but you will be anyway. When it's peak GAA season should we complain about other sports on RTE? What's the official directive on such matters? Some television viewers don't like any sport or maybe they only like skiing and javelin, though not together because that might be dangerous. Should they complain too? Cop on to yourself.

Loads of positive coverage of GAA and soccer. you will just see negative though as you say its prime rugby coverage with 6 nations beginning soon. it is over week away but it makes sense to do preview now. complain about what exactly? What response do you want or expect? KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 29/01/2022 13:49:34 2396962 Link 4 |
Shame on you for watching that drivel :)

The presenter hasn't a breeze about sports, he just about gets by with the rugby crowd because they all probably socialise in his circle.

It was blatantly obvious.

You're a reasonable poster, but in fairness he does have a valid point, there's a little bit of splitting hairs on this one, look at it this way, your own beloved Mayo have earned the right the hard way for maximum TV coverage over the years, likewise in hurling Limerick have earned the same right the hard way for similar coverage, the thing is your privileged to be part of top counties that automatically get a lot of TV coverage, myself being from a div. 4 county I too looked at the Late Late and I thought it was blatantly over the top, the thing is if I was from a div.1 county would I have thought the same way.

The 2 senior club football finals on tg4 today,Dublin/Armagh on RTÉ later..3 games being shown on tg4 tomorrow..I'm not a late,late fan but I didn't think it was anti gas last night.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2512 - 29/01/2022 17:25:11 2397008 Link 3 |
He's a troll. I don't disagree with your post. The so-called weaker counties get very little coverage but the GAA hierarchy seem happy to make the strong stronger and keep the weak weaker. I'm not much of a fan of RTE television either. But not every viewer is interested in GAA or any sport. There's plenty that's good in the GAA, way more than what's wrong. But if some things are wrong the GAA should fix them and not have a self-pitying attitude that the wrongs are caused by other sports. A rugby discussion on the Late Late Show won't rise or lower the standards of so-called weaker counties. No more than having the Meath ladies on it would change the standards of the Ireland ladies team. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7986 - 29/01/2022 18:07:14 2397018 Link 7 |
The presenter hasn't a breeze about anything…. No danger of him been poached from RTE…

A good breeze would blow Tubridy away and he would hardly be missed to be fair, RTE are anti GAA, anti Irish and anti Ulster too, don't know why we are forced by law to subsidise them when they get advertising revenue as well, absolute joke and it's on us. If they shut down tomorrow they wouldn't be missed, I'd rather watch TG4. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3196 - 29/01/2022 20:41:22 2397065 Link 8 |
hahahahaha anti GAA? Not in any way Anti Irish. ah cmon dont be embarrassing and Anti Ulster. Not a hope. In no way are they any of the 3! KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 30/01/2022 15:42:50 2397179 Link 5 |
Of course RTE have an Anti GAA agenda. Any scuffle is immediately highlighted by rte news as well as sport prog which is fair enough but there are similar bust ups in rugby which are always ignored. Why the difference?

Did you listen to Sunday Sport yesterday? True it seems any GAA rows are more highlighted than rugby. But there are a lot less playing rugby than hurling or gaelic football. Gaelic Football and Hurling are contacts sports though, Rugby is a collision sport, different rules, not comparing like with like. Scuffing is encouraged in rugby. At professional rugby level they have hired PR people to do down any scuffles that get reported. Gaa slower to react. The Wicklow parents row at U15 game a few months ago was a mad overreaction. Why was no-one ringing Joe Duffy saying a few adults lost their heads, we have some great young fellas playing ball here, not at home playing Xbox, drinking, doing drugs or joyriding. Social media and clickbait is the enemy here. Misreporting events. Today it could be a club hurling game, tomorrow a rugby team not adhering to COVID rules, the next day Aubameyang moves for stupid money. Don't believe most of what you read and none of what you hear. Anyways, going sideways, I'm no fan of banks. But this is a great ad. link GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7986 - 31/01/2022 16:40:48 2397553 Link 5 |
How many scuffles like which happen in so many GAA games with officials chased off pitches etc or fans running into get involved happen in rugby games in ireland/involving irish teams though? You also need video coverage sent in to RTE from these games for RTE to cover them as well. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 31/01/2022 17:59:18 2397567 Link 0 |
Well that is a load of lies. Scuffing encouraged in rugby? Care to show proof of that. Pro rugby doesnt hire PR people to talk down scuffles. Care to show that? KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3758 - 31/01/2022 18:00:55 2397568 Link 0 |
