I liked it. Spiced up a forum that had gone very stale. I've barely posted of late because the admins keep editing and watering down my posts. Really fed up of that - diluting debate and discussion. Weird that they're trying to kill their own forum.

If we put together a combined Meath and Liverpool team, who'd get in? ;)

Admin doing a great job.
This forum has improved dramatically over last 12 months. Far less bull and a lot more honest debate and discussion.
Long may it continue

If the bradys skoda reginal chsip was the backbone of this current meath team, the management clearly only watched a few of the games.

Where is the POTM from the regional final and why has he not been called into at least the bench for a league game?

I worry that while meath are seeing plenty success, that there were a number of players on our most talented & successful under20 team that are yet to feature for the senior team. Plenty of them boys could kick the ball from anywhere"
Niall devlin of navan omahonys 'and' dcu won player of the year for the ardbraccan team in the regional championship. A player with a great physique will suit the new goaly role well, definitely worth a shot in the team.

Also not overly happy with the GK selection, Niall Devlin is a wonderful young talent but one must question if we would be better placed than young Mitchell adin the nets given the new rules. Going forward, when picking these teams just keep this thought in the back of your head "What would Colm O'Rourke do"."
Hello Colm

Do tell us what you'd do

Evening Guys,

With all this Meath ft. Liverpool players talk I thought I'd jump in with my 2 cents.

Don't think this team will ever line out together but would it would be my "Dream Team" especially with the new rules in play.

Fly Keeper
1. Tom Hanks in Sully

Full Back Line.
Often a thankless job. I went with pace leadership and a dark horse.
2. Adam O Neill
3. Tom Hanks in Captain Philips (C)
4. Gary Barlow

Half Back Line.
All about pace here, mixed with experience at 6.
5. Ciaran Caufield
6. Donal Keoghan
7. Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump

Midfield
Experience and Height
8. Bryan Menton
9. Roald Dahls The BFG

Half Forward
Ball skills at 11 with pace and decision making on the wings
10. Mo Salah
11. Tom Hanks in Cast Away
12. Dermot Bannon

Full Forwards
Flair and Shooting
13. Eoghan Frayne
14. Pikachu
15. Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan

Absolute joke of a list, any ball into Pikachu would just bounce right off him with those little arms. And no kicking range. Be serious, you'd made yourself look a bit foolish with that selection (rest of the team has a nice balance, I'll give you that).

Anyone know if Ronan jones injury is bad?He would be a big loss thought he was playing well and big help to Flynn and menton around the middle.

Yes Jones has been excellent in all the games right from when he came on against Cork. Equally has anyone heard about Costello or Harkin? Both players were also showing great form before injuries. Also is Kinsella injured. His last outing was a great show off the bench against Cavan.
I think it's the one area Meath may struggle is proven squad depth. Need all our best players fit.

I will put my hands up. I thought Meath would struggle and I tipped them to get relegated. How wrong was I? The new rules seems to suit the Royals style of play. You would fancy them to beat Westmeath and that would leave them on 8 points with two matches to go. Win against Monaghan and Louth and that secure promotion for Meath. I'm looking forward the Inniskeen clash on the last day of the league.

He opted out of the panel after a few weeks of training.

Not sure about Jones, unconfirmed reports that it was a hamstring. If as bad as Costello's we may not see him till after the Louth game.
Costello is back training since last week apparently and close to a return, will probably come on Vs Westmeath.
Harkin went to Australia to visit family. It was an arrangement that Robbie Brennan knew about when he recalled him to the panel. Think it was meant to be for two weeks, so id say he's close to being back

Harkin is back this week. I'd be surprised if Costello played any league. He should get back for championship. Robbie will keep saying he's in contention for the next game but I think that's just to keep the opposition guessing. Will be interesting to see who comes in for Jones, personally I'd like to see Conor Gray come in midfield and either Menton or Flynn to wing forward. Not sure what the story with Sean Coffey is, he was in hospital after the roscommon game, something to do with his hand. If he is out, harkin would be an ideal replacement.

I heard Coffey has a broken bone as well in the arm/hand region.

Well Oille,as the old saying goes we have to take it one game at a time.Westmeath would love to put one over on Meath and certainly wouldn't be taking them for granted. If we improve in every game like we have been doing then we should beat them and set up a bumper game v Monaghan on the 16th.Louth not firing on all cylinders but still should be a tasty game to finish the league off.

Yeah agree about squad depth but hopefully Costello will be back soon and Harkin. But I suppose it gives another lad a chance to stake a claim.

Conor Gray was Meath's standout player against Dublin this week in the Leinster Development league. He might have done enough to put himself back in contention. Costello should be available for selection too.

I wouldn't play costello this week, but if he is fit I'd def play him v monaghan. His hamstring injury not as bad as Jones, who won't play for a few months .......at least . Coffey broken arm so he won't play for a few months either.

That is a pity, nice forward but obviously isn't willing to or cannot commit to the commitment required.
