The games against Kildare and Clare last year I don't think we would have won only for his influence. Still think both have something to offer this year."
I wouldn't judge Ben off that one game, I don't recall Ben really being an imposing figure in any game, he will give you an honest shift. He is a good honest footballer and would certainly be worth a place in the panel but I don't see him making the difference especially with the forwards we have/will have. I wouldn't see him starting or coming on over;

Newman
Walsh
Lenihan
O Sullivan
O Reilly
James Mcentee
McMahon
Devine
Campion
Conlan

Then you get into the likes of the Joey Wallace who could leapfrog him. If your the 11th/12th option I think its hard to see him being involved

If Graham stays injury free and can get up to the same level of fitness as the others then perhaps his experience would warrant a place, but I think we haven't seen a fully fit Graham in a few years and that's why he has struggled for form IMO, he has been on the road a long time and is picking up tweaks

I'm fed up of this goalkeeper issue...it's a crisis! Here's a mad idea but why don't we play the fella with years of County experience who can:
- Kick a ball 60yards,
- Catch a high ball, (handy skill!)
- Stop a shot, (amazing for a keeper)
- Play football and...
- Shout his head off!!!

Only problem is he's a renegade from Monaghan and not the youngest!! Surely big Duffy from Ratoath can be persuaded to play for us for one year!!! Stay up in Div1 and we're on the pigs back and he can retire to stud then. He's by far the best option we have outside of O Rourke!

Tell him we're confiscating his Keegan Cup medal under illegal immigration rules if he doesn't declare for us! Seriously though, kick-outs from the 21 next year - we'd be on the opposition 45 playing against the breeze!! Although I'm not sure where we'd go from there!! Andy make the call....case closed!!

If all an inter county goalkeeper had to do was kick the ball as far as he could Duffy would be a great addition but in the modern game you need more than that and he is lacking in other parts of the game going by his performance in Mullingar.

What age is Conor Moriarty from Curragha? He seems to put up some big scores from time to time. Too soon for senior?

Heard about him, but haven't seen much. Sounds like ideal lad to try out in obc

Get out of it!
Did he not get injured??
Shows what I know so... And them Monaghan folk must know little either!!
I suppose who needs a long kick anyway. The lad there at the minute can put a ball on a plate to Andy McEntee in the dugout.

Seems you were at the game, what did you think of his short kick outs?

I never mentioned anything about the current Meath goalkeeper so strange you bring him up, most of his failings have been short kick outs which Duffy would be weak at in my opinion as well. The difference is Colgan makes mistakes at inter county level, haven seen him this year in the club championship I was impressed with his short kick outs. It looked like Don/Ash had a plan from kick outs and he was good at executing it.

Wasn't there so couldn't tell you.
Listened to Bernard on the wireless!
I'm pretty sure I brought the current goalkeeping circumstances up in my first comment but maybe I'm wrong!

Anyway as I say - you clearly know best!

TBH Barry shouldnt even play in the OBC as we all knwo what hes capable of when given a fair shot
Its lads like Nippy, Aaron Lynch and other lads that need to be given a shot not men like Dardis who have nothing to prove"
Dardis has a hell of alot to prove at intercounty level

Pity they didn't have a plan for defending and scoring

Im sure if he was given an extended run he could do

We should be inviting some of the U20s and 2-3 older players /wildcards (e.g Nipper O'Dwyer) up to the Senior Panel for training , S&C and give them an insight of the whole set up and what it entails

Lads Nipper O'Dwyer like Beano Hanlon are both the well into their 30's . Neither have broken into the squad when they were younger.

Nipper also has retired from what I understand due to injury, didnt play at all this year.

There are some geniuses on this site. Alot of the lads on this are critical of players while hiding behind usernames. Lads looking to bring good club players in there 30s into a div1 county set up!

Kevin Ryan from Summerhill surely deserves a chance was brilliant this year. Mattimoe from kells also really stood out and the two wallace brothers from ratoath. These where my players i feel really could make a big impact on the Meath panel this year with all of them having serious peace to burn.

If a guy is good enough it does not matter what club he is from or what age he is. Mobility has become very important (like many other attributes) and there are guys in their 30's more mobile than guys in their 20's (it could based on genes). You obviously would not have a Cluxton on a team!!

But this guy in 30s didn't play football this year and played only a handful of games last year so it's a ridiculous suggestion
