New Additions For Meath Panel 2020...

Replying To Crinigan:  "Good point. In fairness, it's not fair for new lads to be introduced into a totally experimental team - they are better served being trialed as part of a team with a solid spine of experience.

Does anyone know of any other players currently on panel? Presumably there'll be a very different team for the second match."
Id hope there is a different team. Harry Hogan is in the Panel and is a very good goalkeeper, players on u21s for Dundalk, interesting to see how he gets on playing intercounty. Having seen him play for Dundalk he is a deadly accurate kicker of the ball, obviously when its a heavier ball etc might not translate. The two wallaces and Lenihan are also back in the panel but Id expect the wallaces and other ratoath lads might get another few weeks.

Id think we may seen Conlan at midfield with Keoghan moving back. Great to see Menton and Keoghan in from the first match. Bryan played every game for meath last year and great commitment to it.

I'm just baffled at the complete lack of Kells players on the squad. They are the most consistent team in the county and have consistently been beaten at the quarter final/semi final for the past few years and their record in the league and feis cup is not rivaled by anyone. If you are to listen to their cheerleaders talk about kells players it's just a wonder why six or seven kells players aren't on the starting 15 never mind the squad.

Oisin Reilly worth a go. Wouldn't have high opinion of any of rest of them.

Who would you take out of the current panel to replace them with the kells lads , This goes for everyone not just Kells selection . .

Nobody ever mentioned 6 or 7 Kells lads Matimo, Fionn and Oisin Reilly and Beano were all that were mentioned. Yes they are worth giving a go to. There's a lot worse in there at the moment. I really don't see why anytime a Kells lad is mentioned all this cheerleader nonsense is rolled out. Are people afraid that some of these lads might actually make it.

I wouldnt see the harm in adding these lads to the panel and seeing how they get on e.g mattimoe , Oisin Reilly . . What do we have to lose?? Even Beano , one of the best club forwards in the last few years and people say that hes too old or slow , give him the same facilities and opportunities as some of the other forwards in the county and see how he gets on
. Some people are hung up on age and insist on getting rid of older established footballers e.g Micko getting rid of Wardy, Joe and Farrell all in one swoop , Maybe give these lads a chance , I know im always saying Nipper , but the likes of Nipper and Beano would do well against the best backs in the county , mark my words. .

Newman
Lenihan
Walsh
O'Reilly
O'Sullivan
McMahon
Campion
Wallace
Conlan

That's before you add in jack o Connor who lead the scoring in senior this year or Morris and these guys showing big potential and guys like o'caolean or Alan forde.

Are any of these older players really going to improve or benefit meath football moving forward? One thing that's important for squads is not to have a complete overhaul year after year especially after a successful one. What we have to lose by bringing beano and nipper in is losing more of the younger lads to travelling etc because we aren't giving them game time

No I have seen kells play and the only player they have that is good enough to make the Meath Senior panel is Seamus Mattimoe. The rest are solid club players and no more.

Nipper is not a county player . Has not played club football for 2 years . God almighty it's a stretch saying he could play County football. Grand club player 2 and 3 years ago but no way at that level

Nothing to do with age. It's to do with nipper hasn't played club football for 2 years at least . If he comes back playing next year for Dunshaughlin and starts doing damage I couldn't care less how old he is get him in. But he needs to be see playing club football to a decent level before he can be considered for county otherwise it's just a ridiculous statement.

They would need to get another 5 players to make any progress. Not near enough youth coming through
