its a game of football...who cares. I'd rather a ball wasn't kicked again for 12 months than someone die due to it. Its a pass time, why other playing them behind closed doors or at all, no-ones wages depends on it as it's an amateur sport. If people want to kick ball that much, let them do it against the gable of the house.

I would be optimistic that this bad flu will pass and we can all get our domestic projects done, our ancestors had it bad in An Gorta Mor. Give me a break. We can always scrap the super 8. Maybe we can have a straight knock out in the Summer, top 16 and bottom 16 in football for example. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1669 - 13/03/2020 10:23:13 2273667 Link 0 |
Most of the people at Cheltenham were from Ireland and hordes of Irish travel over every week to watch their favourite teams play football, plus I'm sure the pubs in Ireland are still open. To cancel the Ireland v Italy game but still let the Italians enter the country sounded like an Irish Joke.

I know of one GAA club in Westmeath planning on training on Paddys day. A disgrace in my opinion. Westy (Westmeath) - Posts: 39 - 13/03/2020 13:12:58 2273686 Link 0 |
I think the March 29 resumption will be extended, if so Leagues are gone. The Championships may well be late in starting, if this is the case the back door and super 8 should be abandoned. Loose and you are out unless you currently ply your trade in Div 3/4 in which case you go into the Tailteann Cup (football). I would not get too upset if it was abandoned for this year either. All the hurling championships straight k.o. on the current draws for Round 1 and draws for subsequent rounds. As well each round up to Provincial finals home or away. All club championships straight knockout and no divisional teams. This would not be the end of the world as this applied until very recently. Less recently for club competitions but it applied in the not too recent past in a lot of counties. What do they say, a change is as good as a rest. if any of the players turn up, they deserve anything they get. And the club should be expelled from competition for a few years.

Based on what we know now, you're right. But when was it planned ? lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 475 - 14/03/2020 12:00:20 2273789 Link 1 |
Wow, I can't believe that is true. Will the Tipp management take responsibility if someone falls ill or some of their relatives die from it, it beggars belief considering the background of some of the Tipp management. Totally irresponsible, personal gain put before public health. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 14/03/2020 12:19:58 2273791 Link 1 |
They'll be isolated for the incubation period I'm sure so they will have met the requirements for being safe to interact with family and friends afterwards. They're not going back to their families immediately. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 14/03/2020 13:34:02 2273797 Link 0 |

Any team (inter county or club) caused breaking the collective training ban should be banned from competition for the year....maybe even longer. It is totally unacceptable.
