Replying To Trump2020:  "Best of luck to your parents and my mother is in her mid 70s too. It's a big worry. Far bigger than sports even though it's a sports site we're on. My mother is out the country so at least there isn't tons of people running in and out with the potential to spread the virus. Hoping for the best."
All the best wishes the you're loved ones too, we're in it together

I just wish that everyone stays as well and safe as possible."
I agree with you. Hard to see any matches this year at all in any code or level.

a tough time for everyone and an uncertain time, whenever we do get back to games,

I'll take that over the present situation any day. I'm sure most would.

Never been prouder to be a member of the gaa than at the moment.

Shut down all matches, training , meetings without hesitation everywhere on the Island.

Then Croke Park gets used as a testing center , while local clubs help pensioners with deliveries.

We give out a lot about the admin in Croke Park and referees and rule changes but in this emergency I think we are leading.

Now it's different because rugby coming to end of its season but a lot of competitions are being declared null and void and any cups that have finalists declared will have trophy shared
Wonder how this will affect GAA if it lasts lot longer

Obviously everything surrounding the battle against coronavirus takes top priority. But lets say we're being optimistic and team sport can resume in June. County players would likely need a fortnight if not longer collective training/in house games to get sharpness back.

In the interests of having a Championship winner in 2020 (the Leagues I feel are doomed), should we for one year discard the qualifiers, super 8s and Tier 2, and just play old style knock-out football?

Maybe start all provincials in July and have winners decided by the end of the month. August for AI semi finals and the AI final played first weekend of September.

Club football could carry on, obviously teams exiting the championship early can just press on with their own competitions.

I'd say the league stops now, all teams will start next year in the same divisions and tier 2 will be postponed till next year. There'd be too many complaints if there was promotion/demotion with rounds still to be played.

The way things are going, you could be looking at no championship, never mind league being finished. The ROI have done the best thing to try curtail the virus but the North have slipped up badly so the 6 counties and their supporters can't be let near a stadium.

Club leagues are finished for this year too..maybe a knockout championship in each county if it all clears up soon but your probably looking at minimum a couple of months before things can start getting back to normal, then everyone will need a pre-season again (clubs and counties) so the whole season might be wrote off and start afresh next year - Which would be the correct thing to do...it's only a pastime/hobby at the end of the day, its not even remotely important until people can start going back to work, schools can reopen and people can stand within 2 meters of each other

Its suppose to peak in the UK, in June. Northern Ireland is taking a half hearted attempt of restricting the virus, so that will only derail the Republics efforts of getting on top of it. I don't think any football will be played this year

Have to agree. The way our politicians in the north are dealing with this crisis is nothing short of a disgrace.

You would think that at a time like this they would be able to come together and form some sort of cohesive plan.

But no. It's another thing that is descending down the old tribal lines and its the public who are going to suffer.

Let's he honest. If our society goes into lockdown it will not be the political elite who will be out of pocket. They will be fully paid just like they have been for the past 3 years when they CHOSE not to come to work!

We have no leaders, we have no statesmen and we have no initiative.

The leagues can be finished in the late Summer/Autumn, we can skip the championship this year, no big deal. Stay safe everybody and stay home.

Yeah I hear you. If there had been an all-island approach from the outset there might have been some hope. But the lack of leadership from both Westminster & Stormont has been absolutely disgraceful.

I saw videos of pubs in Enniskillen on St. Patrick's Day jammed and people carrying on as normal. Less than a half an hour from the border. What hope have we when there are glaring inconsistencies such as that? Even today, on Sky News the owner of Wetherspoons was defying all known scientific facts and advice, saying the pubs should remain open and even more incredulously asserting that "Pubs are much less crowded. There's hardly been any transmission of the virus within pubs and I think it's over the top to shut them.". Jesus Christ of Almighty.

The more I think about it, in reality I think we all need to get used to the idea that sport is going to be off the table indefinitely.

It just highlights the need for personal responsibility rather than waiting for government to tell you what to do. Them pubs could easily close without being told to or at least curb their operations somewhat. Washing hands and practicing common sense should come automatically to people. Examples: Pub near me is closed but is delivering food such as burgers and chicken wings, etc. Coffee shop near me just opened 5 weeks ago and they are serving out the front door of their shop but you can't come in, take out only. People have to adapt and make the best of it.

Good point but knowing them they are the type to have recyclable paper cups or you bring your own travel mug for a discount.
