It's well deserved. He scored 2-16 from play in this year's championship. Only Con O Callaghan scored more from play in the championship. He scored 0-03 from play in there final. He was exceptional this year.

Who would have complaints?

He's just had the highest scoring season for a midfielder in the history of the GAA. Every point a world class score. Best player in an all Ireland final

Who else realistically could've got it?

Shane O'Donnell was as nailed on for hurler of the year, as I've seen for a good while. Tony Kelly had a brilliant final and was good in the knockout stages, but O'Donnell was excellent all year. Even when he wasn't scoring, he was winning so much ball and creating scores. He was an absolute nightmare for opposition to mark. Kelly did deserve his All-Star though, in my opinion.
On the football side, I wouldn't have argued if John Maher got it either. He was consistently very influential in every game he played this year. I'm delighted for Conroy of course.

Congratulations to all the AS winners, and to POTYs and YPOTYs! Delighted that Limerick received four (CON must have been very close too). Especially happy for Dan Morrissey---a mountain of a man in that defense. Isn't that one at 7, one at 3, and now two at 4? That's the epitome of a great defender.

Nicky was nailed on. Hegarty totally burned down the Munster Championship to get Limerick to an unprecedented 6-in-a-row, and that is some going given the round-robin system and given all the great Cork teams (Lynch and Ring, and Cummins and Barry-Murphy) over the decades that came so close to it!

And anyone who says "I didn't see Kyle getting it" must be fair well blind. Hayes was nominated for HOTY. THAT MEANS THAT HE WAS IN THE TOP 3 HURLERS IN IRELAND FOR 2024. So, why would he not be in the top 15, when he was already in the top 3? It was as plain as the nose on your face that Kyle Hayes was going to win an All-star in 2024. I think that's 5-in-row for Hayes now in the 20's. Reminds me of the great Pat Hartigan in the 70's; the only other Limerick man to put 5 All-Star awards back-to-back. And somehow, I get the impression that Hayes isn't quite finished yet.

O'Donnell was great all Championship for Clare. Any time they were under pressure they could put the ball in on top of him and he'd create something. A richly deserved award imo.

Kelly finished the season brilliantly, particularly the final to be fair.

Congratulations to all winners. Well done Conroy, an exceptional year and at his age just unbelievable. We're disappointed for McKay, he had a fantastic year at full back and a great final. On the 'keeper selection, no doubt Morgan is the best out there talent wise but disappointed for Blaine who didn't put a foot wrong all year and whilst he was nowhere near as flashy as Morgan, he conceded far less in terms of goals and his kickouts were equally as good in my opinion. Congratulations to Morgan however.

Scoring 3 from play in the Munster final, 6 from play in the quarter final and 3 from play in the semi final along with the greatest 1-4 ever seen in a final. What world do you lot live in when consistency like that is "non existent".?Considering Gearoid Hegarty got an all star for 3,0,4, 2 and 1-2 across 5 games in Munster and scored a point in the semi final I take Hegarty was non existent outside the Munster final too so why did he get an star?

Pjm I said in an earlier post that there were going to be controversial picks..Conor leen for me was a cert to be picked and I also thought Brian hayes was cert for corner forward..gillane probably should have been in corner before gearoid..don't know how he was selected in the corner..even the nominations were crazy,o Mahoney did most of his hurling at wingback but nominated midfield..tk was nominated midfield but if I'm correct most of his hurling was as a forward..needs to go back to picking players in positions they actually play in..how was Malone overlooked even for a nomination??john Donnelly probably very unlucky,as he was easily best forward that killkenny had..I know people will always disagree and these are only my opinions..that is why the hogan stand forum can be very good, different people with very different opinions..Diarmaid Ryan and John conlan can probably ask to as to why they weren't picked..

John Donnelly had a good year getting and making a lot of scores

Always controversy! I agree with the majority of the team. I'd have Lee Chin in for Davy Fitz, and possibly John Conlon in for Eoin Downey with moving Dan Morrissey to FB and Rob Downey to no. 4! Cathal O'Neill perhaps for Tony Kelly at MF. But these aren't things that really bother me. Overall, a great 15! Congrats to all the winners.

McKay had a very poor Ulster final, Gallen got 7 points of him.Rian O'Neill getting an award must have been a surprise to himself, he had a poor league final, poor Ulster final and a very poor All Ireland final, but had a great 5 mins against Kerry in extra time. Soupy must be a little aggrieved he didn't get the 10 jersey.

He scored 1.3 from Midfield in the Munster Final and was MOTM, even though his team lostHe was also the MOM against Cork in the qualifier, in which they lost by a single point to the eventual Champions
Walsh from Kanturk was a young fellow, who was not then or ever remotely as good a Footballer as Galvin yet he got the All Star."
Aidan Walsh couldn't cut it as a footballer after a few seasons so he switched to hurling .....

Fact, Morgan fittest and best keeper in Ireland. Is that enough. The likes of Beggan can come out slowly to the other half of field but they're like a cart horse getting back.

Beggan is better than Morgan. Always has been. Having said that they're the top two in the country.
