Is This The End Of The Road For This Great Limerick Team

Definitely not. Even if one or 2 retire, they will still be a force to be reckoned with next year

You could put whatever money you want on them to win next year's championship…. it would be the same as buying cash…

In the term of dominating yes but they should win another All Ireland before their current crop run out of energy.

Certainly hope not, our club could with a another few euros from jp, seriously though coming from a mainly football background, a championship which has been mostly very poor ,the hurling championship has been unreal this year, couldn't take your eyes off any games for a second, unbelievable skills, physicality bravery from so many teams. limerick have been outstanding champions, where cork got that level of fitness and believe from going down the straight I don't know, and Clare taking the cat's from a position they just don't loose, incredible , Final will be unreal

Replying To CartaDubh:  "Possibly only 1 or 2 retirements if any. Quaid, Hannon and Dan Morrissey are the only players that played yesterday that re over 30. Limerick will still be there or thereabouts. They have the likes of Shane O'Brien, Adam English coming through. As well as Peter Casey and Barry Nash to come back from injuries."
They need a goal scorer though. The Kilkenny team in their 4 in a row pomp would have been going for goals yesterday in the last 10 minutes. Limerick weren't trying to create goal chances. They kept shooting for points and had some very bad misses in the last few minutes. If Limerick goaled yesterday in the last few minutes, they win that match. Kiely also needs to freshen up the team. Cody with 11 All Irelands in 16 years is the template. He always brought in a new player each year.

You dobt have to tell us you are here Tom.
And why do you think they're gone.

I don't see how it's end of the road. Their core guys still have enough years left and they still are getting fresh blood in to reinvigorate the team.

Short answer ,far from it I'd say ,there's still a lot of hurling left in this team .

Had Gavin stayed I think Dublin would have won more.

Depends on John Kiely's plans …. senior inter co mgt is a big commitment, he has a family and a career so he might like a gear change for a spell

Looking at the limerick squad going forward they will be a stronger outfit next year. The 5 in a row talk is put to bed and theyll be very hungry to reclaim their title. Age profile is still better than nearly all countys bar cork. Their depth has grown this year with Shane o brien Adam English Aidan o connor fergal o connor all seeing championship game time. Add in the returning peter casey darragh o Donovan and Barry nash to what's there is going to be a huge selection headache. I see slight changes with Kyle hayes needing to be in a more central position as to not allow teams bypass him like cork did Sunday. There might be maybe 1 or 2 lads that might call it a day but with repect wouldnt possibly alter the first 20. For kiely and kinnerk I dont see them going anywhere.

there may be a few who go but not many as age profile still very good. Injuries have taken their toll past few years. Think we have options coming through to cover from 8 - 15 but would worry about 2 - 7, apart from Fergal O'Connor not many anyway close yet, perhaps a few more from '22 U20 team might start showing up

Not so sure. Farrell did well to keep the guts of the great team together and win another one. Avoided the sort of humiliating exit a lot of great teams experience.

Be serious rebuild now with 5/6 major retirements I suspect.

Limerick much younger profile and their race far from being run but hopefully championship will open up a bit as Cats might have to restructure more radically than they've done since Cody left. Galway too, Tipp, Waterford post Davy all in line for similar you would imagine.

I don't think Farrell is a great manager… he piggybacked an All Ireland after Jim Gavins great work and how Kerry allowed Dublin win last year was more down to their own ineptitude than anything great Dublin did… He held onto too many old players and it cost him this year as Galway out ran them in the second half… this never happened under Gavin.. His team selection in that game was very suspect too.. It doesn't look like Dublin have much coming through if you can judge by their recent minor and U-20 teams… A few players will pack it in and word has it Ciaran Kilkenny is thinking of ending his inter county career… Their replacements don't look great..!

I wisent in Croke Park for the Limerick V Cork game ( very expensive now to go ) and I feel it is the end of the road for this great team.
You can expect several retirements , even maybe John Kiely.
Watch this space"
A more interesting topic is the Armagh vs Kerry game at weekend, when Dublin will be invaded by orange hordes, on week of the Twelfth! Tom, this might be a chance to extend our hand of friendship! Must be a lot of confusion around Armagh with houses festooned with Orange and White, people not knowing if celebrating the 12th or the Armagh juggernaut!

Yes the age profile is still quiet good so id say they will be favourites again next year this panel is quiet strong but id say would need to do a bit of building under age as last few years not great.

I was a bit surprised that the Limerick management dident put K Hayes in a more central role a lot earlier, it was a basic enough tactic just don't puck the ball on him, he is too much of a top player to leave isolated they would have known Cork would go long Declan Hannon & D Byrnes has a great Munster Final but I think there was a view that they might suffer with pacy forwards.

Overall Cork little bit better but LK has the chances to send it to extra time.

Overall I don't think too many Limerick fans will complain its, being a wonderful 7 years winning 14 Finals I don't know if its ever being bettered I doubt it.

Hope the AI lives up to expectations

You must not be familiar with the demographics of Armagh! Everyone knows where they are pretty much.

What a pleasure its been to watch this Limerick side, outstanding.

Only narrowly beaten, they'll come together and look to put that right, that loss will act as a huge motivational factor for them

I expect Limerick to win next year, and could easily put in a two in a row.

Limerick have gone nowhere

Definitely not the end of the road. Fine margins on sunday, as it has been all 3 games with Limerick under Pat Ryan.
Not enough depth to the competition the next couple of years, Tipp, Galway, KK all rebuilding. Win or lose, Clare not far off a rebuild, when is O'Donnell taking his year out?
A lot will depend on Kiely/Kinnerk staying or who the replacement is but, as someone said earlier, hurt is a great driving force. Small bit of rejigging in defence needed.
I'm definitely seeing a Cork-Limerick All Ireland Final the next year or two.
