No way.I have fancied Cork this year bigtimr but Limerick will be back with a vengence next year.Write them off at your peril. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3844 - 07/07/2024 23:33:30 2557573 Link 0 |
Limerick will not be going back to 40 year droughts like the past.I think we have a 4th superpower now in the game. jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1601 - 08/07/2024 00:54:02 2557587 Link 0 |

Definitely - Limerick are going nowhere.

I agree that Limerick are here to stay. To me, they are embedded in top 4. Limerick, Cork, Tipp, Kilkenny. Next Waterford, Clare, Galway, Wexford. 5 in a row is a big ask - in either code. Although in fairness, Limerick could have been pushing for a 7 timer. It just underlines the sheer class of the Dublin footballers over the last decade or so. Cork have had a lean time since their "strike", but were never too far away. I'd love to hear what Donal Og makes of particular period , in hindsight. Agree about Limerick, but not sure if I agree that we have 4 superpowers now, unless you are referring to Clare and not Tipperary. I think we have the traditional big 3 + Limerick + Clare as a core group of 5 that are going to be fighting it out for the next few years . I still inclue Tipp in the mix despite a few poor years, as they are still an excellent side and continue to push through the underages but we cannot exclude Clare from any elite grouping. Of the others ,I really believe that Dublin will be the next to break through to the elite. Galway, Wexford, Waterford will retain the ability to take an odd scalp but I cant see an AI going in any of those directions in the near future.

Limerick will probably start out next year as favourites again if they dont have too many key injuries. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 13880 - 08/07/2024 09:25:31 2557617 Link 0 |
Possibly only 1 or 2 retirements if any. Quaid, Hannon and Dan Morrissey are the only players that played yesterday that re over 30. Limerick will still be there or thereabouts. They have the likes of Shane O'Brien, Adam English coming through. As well as Peter Casey and Barry Nash to come back from injuries.

Ah lads, what a day yesterday, and the Frank and Walters being belted out at the end just topped it off. We went direct yesterday, because now we can - we have the players to do so, and boy did it pay dividends. warriors all over the pitch. Commiserations to Limerick, what a team, and no doubt ye'll be back next year chomping at the bit. bloodandbandage (Cork) - Posts: 349 - 08/07/2024 10:03:08 2557626 Link 0 |

Some of those players might only be 30 or thereabouts but have a lot of miles on the clock For me 3 names are key for the short term 1. Quaid when he goes will be irreplaceable 2. Kiely and Kinnerk. Not sure if they will decide to go or stay together. They may want to do something different or spend more time with family. It's a FT high pressure job. If those 3 give it another whirl we will be there or thereabouts next year. Especially with Casey back, O'Donovan back, and Adam English and Shane O Brien pushing to start. If not we will be back in the pack Longer term we have a good crop coming through now but further back last couple of years underage haven't been great and must be a concern. One win underage this year. Last year a little better. Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 57 - 08/07/2024 12:07:06 2557670 Link 0 |
Is it the end?, I'd say no if they keep a good management team in place. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1400 - 08/07/2024 12:40:34 2557680 Link 1 |
No chance its the end of the road, probably the end of total dominance as in 4 on the trot etc. but maybe they'll be there or there abouts for next few years. WEXILE (Wexford) - Posts: 312 - 08/07/2024 13:27:33 2557690 Link 0 |
