Fingers crossed. I'm heading to Limerick v Cork myself. Really looking forward to it. Initially I thought there would be over 70,000 at it. It's great to see it's a sell out. There's going to be some atmosphere in Dublin and at the game. I fear for Cork. I think there may be a backlash from the game in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Limerick/ Cork going to be a great occasion. Cork hurling fans bring great enthusiasm and colour on the big days, that wall of red willing the sliothar over the bar. Limerick are a terrific team but it will be competitive and bound to entertain. The Galway/ Donegal fixture attracting a lot of neutral interest as well, came across families on my travels this week from unlikely spots with tickets secured for Croker. We are a sports mad country and spoilt with TV offering this week end . Take today alone : Banner/Cats @ 3pm , Boks/IRL @ 4pm, ENG/Swiss in Euro24 @ 5pm.. LGFA QFs . Tomorrow has the big Munster clash , the minor football final and Wimbledon in the background. Good to be alive and plenty of talking points, safe travel everyone ..good luck and enjoy. Great post and so very true. I'm really looking forward to today and tomorrow. It's good to hear that there's neutral interest in the Galway v Donegal game. I'm going to that as well. I was very pessimistic about the possible attendances at the football semi finals. I didn't think there would be more than 40,000 at either game given the huge negativity that prevails about football at the moment. Hopefully I'm wrong. When you're talking about sport don't forget Seamus Power and Leona Maguire.

Croker not even half full for an all Ireland semi-final. Not sure I remember attendances ever being as bad in the GAA, we can all play the blame game but GAA needs to make radical changes to get arses on seats. Prices, making games more entertaining etc. we're going to fall behind soccer and egg chasing if we don't do something

3:00pm on a Saturday for a semi final is insane. Even 5pm might have been better and let nobody mention the Euros or Rugby…those are nothing games. This is our national sport.

And then in August no intercounty games on show when it's a complete open goal with no soccer or rugby to compete against. That's what happens when you put an All Ireland semifinal on at 3pm on a Saturday… The game should have been timed at 5-30/6pm at the earliest… I doubt a rubbish English soccer team would keep many away from going to see a hurling match..!! Wakey up GAA… you are past masters of shooting yourselves in the foot..

The semi-final between Kilkenny and Clare in 2022 had a 5:30 throw in on a Saturday and there was only 39,626 at it. There was 48,360 when they played on the Sunday last year. Sunday games always get bigger crowds.

Utter nonsense 3-4pm is primary time for games. We should get back to standardise the throw in of feature game to 3:30 Saturday and Sunday. GAA and RTE were reporting 82,300 attendance.
