Replying To Doylerwex:  "Today wasn't a good day at all, but I'm not going to be too dramatic about it. The first yellow was a joke, but overall didn't impact the result.

At the beginning of the year we wanted to stay up, we did that.

We wanted to find some players. We did that. Eoin Ryan is a class act. He's going to be all star material. Cian Molloy finally involved. Conor Foley developing well. CBD, and more so Cian Byrne can be very potent attackers.

Richie lawlor developing well and Conor hearne has come of age.

We'll likely lose, Matt, Dee and mogie.

We wanted to finish a minimum third in Leinster, and should probably have been in the Leinster final.

High point, very strong pre season, big win against Galway.

Low points, Antrim and today, albeit Clare are consistently the third best team in the country for the last three years.

The group we have now is good so it's important we keep them together.

Add in Carty, Clarke, flood, the two Foleys and we're stronger again.

All in all it's a very positive start for Rossi. I'm already looking forward to next season."
Probably should have been in leinster final? Are u joking we bet Galway and Carlow so why should we be in the Leinster final?Same old failings every year and we still make up excuses time we took off the wexford glasses and realise we just not good enough Mac Chin and Rory non existent against top opposition again.

Replying To WEXILE:  "And maybe cut down on frees and stop Rory O Connor being reckless. Against Dublin he had a wild over head pull that some.refs would show a straight red. He was living in the edge against Galway too. Fabulous hurler I hope he learns from today

It's because of those young lads doing well that I'm not so depressed. Imagine knowing we could be losing those players you mentioned with nothing coming through. Thankfully that isn't the case. In 1A we.knkw Keith will give lads a chance, he has no other choice.now.

Disappointed with today but shows exactly where we are in terms of physicality, fouling etc.

The better team won, we are still on the outside looking in at the top sides. But vastly improved

Thanks lads.for the effort"
Totally disagree on Rory been reckless against Dublin his eyes were totally on the ball and nothing else.. today a decent ref would of let him off 5 seconds into the game the 2nd incident I didn't see but I have been following Wexford since Rory came on the scene going to all games and have never seen him being dirty

The irony is that Johnny Murphy also refereed that Dublin game where Rory had the wild pull, that was more of a red card than the red card he gave out today

Replying To Timbertony:  "Don't mind that soft talk from Cummins, a 12 point defeat on a day that we all thought we would either win or go very close is very disappointing. Munster counties have no respect for us and won't have until we earn it on the pitch. U20 results very poor this year too so there aren't many new players definitely good enough for the panel."
I don't think the U20s were that good but there were still a few useful enough players on the team, would think Eoin Whelan will definitely be getting gametime at Senior next year and would also expect Cillian Byrne, Seán Rowley, and Simon Roche would be involved in the squad too

Referee without an ounce common sense today with a yellow and after 20 seconds, unbelievable.

There's teams that are just better than us but I still believe that we handicap ourselves with our approach.

Absolutely. The wild pull was dangerous even tho he probably was going for the ball. Rory just needs to calm down. He's definitely not dirty but you don't hsbr to be dirty to get sent off

What would he achieved in connecting with the ball? Where would it have went? God knows. Would he not be better off just trying to catch it. He swung full force and if he connected with a helmet he'd have got jail never mind a red. Even if he went for the ball there is still uncertainty in how the ref reacts and that my friend is reckless. Everyone in the ground thought he could be carded for that pull and could easily.have seen red.

He knows well enough that pull like that get penalised now so it is reckless even if he only had eyes for the ball. That sort of hurling was the norm up to 2000s it's going to be penalised everything now.

So.fine you disagree but I'll repeat, Rory isn't dirty but needs to calm down

Replying To theboys:  "Said it before and Il say it again,we are bang average!!! We are simply not at the races lads, take the Wexford jersey of ya and just look in at it!!! Totally over rated,I keep saying it our so called poster boys, chin Mac Rory just to easy to stop in the big games against proper teams!!! Cleary hurled chin up a stick Mac at Notting today,to easy!!! Chin got cleaned v Kilkenny too and I have no doubt if O'Donnell had of been on him v Dublin for full game he wouldn't have featured!!! Against the weaker team looks like a all star but to be honest Notting there for a good while now!!! I just don't see the supporting act either there isn't one as far as I can see!!! We are miles off it!!! I said I'd wait to judge the team until after this game and my opinion on them is that we are terrible!!! And when Liam og and all these lads go we are in huge bother!!!! I also said we are nowhere near as good as we were in 19 and we are not in a country mile of that form!!! People said we have a better panel ,where is it???God help us in the league next year, feel sorry for rossi he has an awful job ahead of him!!! This team is finished now and it's going to be a dark few years for Wexford, alot of them are finished now and we have Notting to replace them with, one Leinster medal a poor return for that group!!! Thanks for the memories some good hurlers, gave us some great days!!! I wish them well!!! Liam og
Dee
Kevin Foyle
Donoghue
Matthew
Maybe chin
Some of the lads out of the 26 might go
We havnt the players to replace these lads!!!
Really disappointed with Charlie prob a wing back, just not up to it brilliant club hurler
Richie Lawlor was good at minor, what has he actually done at senior club, how many senior club games has he even played very few!!! Poor at u20
Foyle not a back very poor defensively
Rory O'Connor discipline issue track record too
Mac best fist pump in Wexford at Notting v good teams has been poor for along time now!!!
Jippo worth his weight in gold
Damien reck not a real centre back again comes to light v poor teams!!! We are in big trouble around the whole team!!! Good night and good luck I hope to god we see some springers in the club championship!!! Over and out for 24"
Good post there, you hit the nail on the head with your comments. Today was awful bar 10-15 minutes in the first half. Only for Fanning, we could have lost by about 18 points. The red card did not help obviously. There are certain players that you can trust on a yellow card, unfortunately Rory is not one of them. A great player for sure but also a liability to an extent. His self discipline is very poor. This is not his first time to be red carded for something very silly in a quarter final v Clare. Chin is a huge player for us but once again failed to show up when it mattered. McDonald the same. Richie just doesn't look like he's going to make the grade at senior inter county plus he's too lightweight for midfield. I can't see him as a forward either as he doesn't contribute enough in the scoring department. McGuckin looked like a world beater in the Co championship last year but does not convince me at all. It's great having huge work rate but you have to have the quality too. He doesn't. Donohoe….i don't understand how nearly 10 years later, he's still starting games. Conor foley, Cian Byrne and Eoin Ryan are great young talents as are the Recks although I'd sooner see Damien at wing back. We hopefully will have the Foley brothers, Jippo, Conall Flood, Cian Molloy and Carty back to strengthen the squad next year along with any others who emerge from the club championship. I don't think it's all doom and gloom but for those who are wondering why there are people on here criticising, don't forget it's a forum and we have just lost an all Ireland quarter final by 12 points.

One All Ireland in 56 years lads for Gods sake. More than we won but we know our place. Ye go on as if ye are relevant every year but ye are not. Wexford should have been relegated last year but KK didn't need to turn up & ye escaped. Nothing against Wexford & would love to see ye win one but don't see it coming. I hate to admit it but only for KK Leinster Hurling would be in the doldrums..( we did draw with them)

We were 6 points up with 30 seconds to go against Dublin and drew. They were in the Leinster final. We were 7 up against Antrim with 18 to go and lost. We were all over Kilkenny in the first half and lost by a point.

We were in a winning position on all those games. We needed to be a little less naive and change things up quicker. Had we done that we'd have been there.

For me that's a very positive platform to build on. Compare it to least year. We're miles ahead of where we were then.

Replying To WexMurph:  "Think Rossiter done well for the players at his disposal. Gave plenty of opportunities but obviously a huge gulf between the top 4 teams and the rest now. Not sure any of the players you've mentioned will strengthen us bar Paudie foley. Thanks to the players for there commitment this year."
I'd be optimistic. Oisin Foley can win primary possession which we really lacked this year.

David Clarke is young, but he was excellent on Chinner in the club championship. He kept him quiter than any county back.

Carty is a super athlete and he made no mistakes. Immediately assured in the position from his first start and very capable defensively

Right now there's a gulf. If we can make the same level of progress next year we can target a Leinster final at least.

Going into a semi final as a provincial champion is a totally different proposition mentally.

Replying To Yellowhelmet:  "A bad day at the office. Even without the sending off I feel clare would have won. If we allow clare to win their own puck out you would expect the backs to be tight with a man back.
We got cleaned out with good balls from their half back line into their full forwards.
We didn't put any pressure on them. Free men all over the place even before rory was sent off.
Disappointing to go out like that. Very flat.

In reality if you give the top teams so much time and space on the ball we never going to win.

Silly by rory when on a yellow card.

Now onto club championship."
In reality we cannot afford to be without players such as Liam Ryan, Oisin Foley, Jacko and even Paudie Foley. We struggled to compete physically.

We also needed to run at them and when we started to do that we scored 1-4 without reply. Then came the red card. Watched the game back last night and I see lots of people say the second was a dangerous tackle which is rubbish in my opinion. Given how fussy Johnny is maybe he should have pulled out but it wasn't a big slap down. The clare player made plenty of it. It was Liam Gordon who called it by the looks of it but I'll be amazed if someone gets sent off as easily in any of the remaining games.

Yes you are missing something as Clare didn't start with 15 in 2nd half. David mcinerny only resumed his position when signalled his time was up by officials. Watched him re enter field of play myself. Aside from that, as a clare supporter first yellow was harsh and many others have got away with more but unfortunately can have no complaints about second and it was wreckless from ROC knowing he was already towing the line. Need to show more discipline in those situation as you know the risk. No one likes to see a player sent off and it was a competitive game up to this.

Replying To Jedobi:  "Good to see all the positives on here...☹️☹️"
Unfortunately the positives are few and far between.
The facts-- Clare were by far and away the better team.
We were without Ryan. He was a big loss but I honestly do not believe we would have won had he been out there.
Rory was causing problems until his indiscipline let him down.
Our intensity was non exisant.
As usual we gave away far too many frees.
Mac and Chin were bystanders for most of the game only showing glimpses of what made them the players they have become.
Shot choices were weak and feeble throughout.
Positional sense and first touch were well below what is required at this level.
No real goal scoring opportunities created.
Our ariel ability was sadly lacking. Clare were the masters in that regard.
Once again we have shown that we are unable to cope with the munster teams. To think differently is delusional.
We have found some new players and they will hopefully get better as time goes on.
Our bench is not as strong as some like to think it is.
Retirements now look inevitable and I feel that fresh blood is required .
Our injury list is a major problem every year.seems to be much greater than other counties.
Is it our training methods. If so then perhaps it needs to be reexamined and problems sorted.
The only way forward now is to look at our failings and see if we can change our approach and in so doing may bring us back where we belong, at the top table.

I don't think Wexford would have won regardless, although might have been closer, but they do have a point as there will be similar tackles, especially the first one, that won't even raise an eyebrow two weeks from now.

Rather ironic too that a Limerick man ought to be so punctilious when it comes to Wexford and Dublin who on the one hand are sometimes taken to task for not having Munster (or Cats) level of aggression and "intensity" and when they do show it are done for stuff that is accepted in other situations!

Not the reason both are a bit off the top 4, but a lesson to be learned perhaps.

Had at least 2 goal chances before the penalty, at least plenty of young lads have had good exposure this year and we fought back well yesterday from a poor start, we kept trying to play even with 14, but we were not good enough with 14 to compete a against a very experienced Clare team, most teams with the exception of Limerick or Kilkenny would have struggled. I'm positive compared to last year.

Bad post, this is a wexford forum and we are only discussing our team. Not one person thinks we are world beaters You would want to look after your own patch and don't be coming on here after a sicking loss and rubbing it in.no one from wexfors was on the carlow forum saying anything after we hammered ye by 25 points or whatever it was.
