Replying To Viking66:  "Championship is a big step from League but you are right he would be an addition, but I think only if fully fit. Hearne and Lawlor are playing well in general, but look to have emptied the tank with 20 or 25 to go, especiallyagainst Kilkenny but Galway also. If CBD was fully fit you would have the option of bringing him and Kevin on without weakening the team any. The starting lads could go all out then and empty the tank knowing that we have 2 good lads to come on there. Depending how Dee got on last night he would be another option there, with Kevin and CBD options at half forward either."
Hard to see Dee being involved Saturday . Interesting listening to the Wexford hurling podcast this morning. Joe Fortune still has a huge passion for Wexford hurling think it would be great if we could get him take over the 20s next year.

We were through all that before :)

If Wexford and Cork reach the semi-finals, then they'll be Kilkenny v Cork, and Wexford v Limerick.

This is because first proviso for semi-finals is that they can't be repeats of provincial finals. That wouldn't be an issue here, since neither Clare nor Dublin would be involved.

Second proviso is that where possible, they shouldn't be repeats of games that have already happened anywhere in the provincial championships. This would rule out a semi-final line-up of Limerick v Cork and Kilkenny v Wexford.

And obviously, Limerick v Kilkenny and Cork v Wexford couldn't happen either, because provincial champions can't meet in a semi-final.

I'd be cautious of this and judge him on results instead of where he is from. Very very mixed results at intercounty you could argue that his record is poor.

Mixed results with Dublins u20 too way back. He did a great job for Ballyboden Saint Enda's.

I'd have him in involved somewhere tho and let him work his way into these big roles instead of just awarding him a role just because he can talk thr talk.

Sometimes in Wexford we fall for his passion stuff, vinegar Hill 1798 stuff. What's his record like, that should be the first thing considered

I would argue his record is as good as we are going to get for Under 20 manager. He won a Leinster minor and under 21 with Dublin and county title with Ballyboden. He got Westmeath up competing at Liam McCarthy level despite having a similar playing pool of players to Carlow. They bet and drew with us , unlucky to lose to the Dubs and were level with KK at 50 mins before KK pulled away. I wasnt impressed with the 20s set up this year and I think its vital we get a good management team in place for next season.

Chairman is in his last year I think?
I doubt either would let 1 incident after a match decide on who manages what. People say and do things in the heat of battle and we all have things we did and said that we would take back.

Ah ok. How were Blackwater set up? Did they play 2 or 3 inside? Was Diarmuid Murphy playing or is he still away travelling? Asking for a friend;-)

:)

I was just answering the question as asked.

Am after saying myself on more than one thread already that we shouldn't be looking any further than Laois right now. Never mind looking ahead all the way to a semi-final!

He was involved with one of my own @wexile in that Wexford group so can only say the best about him. Excellent coach and hurling man, far from just passion. He was a huge influence on my young man as much off it as on it and has as good a record and better then all those currently involved in all our setups. Mixed results with U20s? He got them to a Leinster final and won one beating us in the park. None of them have actually won underage titles like he has. They've gotten to finals. He also won a Dublin club championship and beat and drew with us with Westmeath. That in itself ….I'd hope at some stage in the future he'll manage our senior players. He has done enough compared to so many more.

I hope we are not making little of the challenge Laois will bring this weekend. They have shown before in their home ground how good they can be but I'm sure Keith has our players chomping at the bit.
