Brilliant win and performance yesterday . Every Wexford man stood up and played with intensity and quality that we have been waiting for . ROC played his best game for us yesterday he was sublime. Chin steeped up as he always does. Mac played his best game for us in a long time. Lawlor and Hearne were good midfield. Backs were very solid . Fair play to Jippo first game back he really made a difference and to Eoin Ryan he was good on his first start in championship . We have 2 weeks now to rest up for Carlow. When our foot is on the throat we have to put the nail in the coffin against them and not keep them in the game as we done against Antrim and Dublin . Hopefully Jacko didn't aggrevate his injury it looks like he could have. We need him definitely for the Kilkenny game . Cian Byrne will be a loss the next day too tough for the lad but he will learn from it . We need to treat Carlow as a Leinster quarter final . Beating them gives us the right to play Kilkenny in a Leinster semi final. Great to be back in the championship we need to drive on now. We showed yesterday what we are capable of. Hopefully we get Cian Molloy , CBD and Dee back to further strengthen the squad over the next few weeks Afinestick96 (Wexford) - Posts: 165 - 05/05/2024 08:26:02 2543034 Link 0 |
A long day from 1.30pm to 6pm in Wexford Park. Thankfully the ending was a good one with some outstanding performances that makes this weeks hangover an easier one to handle!! wexfordwin (Wexford) - Posts: 142 - 05/05/2024 08:34:04 2543037 Link 0 |
If Dublin win out Kilkenny and Galway will only have 5 points if we beat Kilkenny also. We will have 7 if we win our last 2 games.

I agree the genuine Wexford supporters were there yesterday and really got behind the team

Is it a certainty if we can win the last 2 games we are in the Leinster final . If we can produce a solid win over carlow that last game against Kilkenny is going to be huge

Firstly credit to rossiter for making the required changes. Competition for places is so important. Yellowhelmet (Australia) - Posts: 90 - 05/05/2024 12:16:16 2543074 Link 0 |
Well lads what is the story with this team i for one said we were heading for the Joe McDonagh.. I honestly don't know where that performance came from yesterday I knew we have it in us but just could not see it coming… our backs were superb though your Eoin Ryan did very well.. Liam Ryan brought a presence to our defence yesterday and I think all around him were so much calmer knowing he was there… I think on 2 occasions in first half we tried playing it from half back line and gave away score along with 1 more from a poor fanning puck out.. other than that the direct ball clearly works for us so why not do it more.. Rory o Connor is a joy to watch and I been saying it for years that his up there with top 5 forwards in Ireland.. chin and Mac immense again.. midfield worked well and is a good combination.. should not be thinking of anything else only Carlow in 2 weeks not about Points what way we can qualify etc.. hopefully d o keefe and cian molly can return plus Jacko to bolster squad again.. one final note does this team need a sports psychologist I think they do how can we only fight like this when we are on our backs?? gannett83 (Wexford) - Posts: 288 - 05/05/2024 12:19:09 2543075 Link 0 |
1988 Leinster semi-final against Kilkenny, I believe the Wexford keeper didn't come out for the second half as he was on the toilet! The second half started and we had no keeper!

Seen a headline somewhere yesterday that Keith Rossiter was unhappy about some keyboard warriors. Some on here are always negative but most are well informed, honest and are passionate Wexford supporters. Magpie2 (Wexford) - Posts: 301 - 05/05/2024 12:30:36 2543080 Link 0 |
Well lads I have to say when I was walking out of Corrigan Park last week that not in a million years did I give us a hope against Galway. The aggression from all the players was chalk and cheese from last week v Antrim and big Liam Ryan fairly added some steel to the defence. I wasn't too shocked to see Murphy hooked last week as his distribution was desperate but any one of the backs could have been dropped after last week. Rory was savage, best I've seen him. Disappointed with Byrne, it was dirty and it could have cost us badly if Galway had've been at the races but as good as we played they were atrocious so hopefully the lads don't get ahead of themselves and take Carlow for granted because it'll bite us if they do. Rossiter showed yesterday he has the mettle to make changes when players need dropping so onwards and upwards and please god we can beat Carlow and do over Kilkenny again :- ) YellowShadeOfPurple (Wexford) - Posts: 1 - 05/05/2024 12:41:59 2543083 Link 0 |
While it's still to early in his career to make a call on Rossiter and whether he can take Wexford up another level or if he's not good enough, time will judge that and I'm not going to make a call in 3rd game of year 1, he definitely showed way more mettle and tactical nous than Shefflin in yesterdays game….helps when the players are also up for a game. Please let this be the start of something and not the peak of it, can't beat actually winning games, draws and going close are no good when it comes down to it. About time when took out a big team other than Kilkenny. Be great to see Dublin now get over their hump with Kilkenny like our hump with Galway, and really blow this thing wide open.

Seamus Hickey who was commentating on GAAGO said that he felt Concannon had flicked the ball away first….he has better eyesight than me if thats the case!!

We should concentrate on Carlow now. The reason we lost to Antrim and beat Galway was that Antrim hurled better than Galway, and were more committed too. Carlow will bring exactly what Antrim brought. We will have to match it better than we did in Corrigan Park.

We have a sports psychologist this year. He's from Westmeath.

I said it. People were so quick to put up a head stone to Wexford after getting ambushed in the first game and a two point loss to a wounded team that played out of their socks. Many of yere own were contributors. At the end of the day Wexford has 3 points now and in my opinion will qualify for something. Who knows how high. The keeper was Ted Morrisey,. I think it was anyway

Well there will be no negativity from me today. To remind people, I also didn't kick either team when they were down after match v us or v Antrim. I leave that for people who probably never held 3ft of ash in their life. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1144 - 05/05/2024 15:00:41 2543123 Link 0 |
Pikeman96, can you show me the post where I said about a raft of 4G pitches? I said one in Wexford and it will pay for itself time and again because it means weather issues are mitigated a lot. I mentioned a raft of them nationwide when it was asked how to logistically play club championships nationwide. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1144 - 05/05/2024 15:02:35 2543124 Link 0 |
