The GAA managerial gravy train continues to rumble on… money money money… ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3149 - 19/09/2023 20:48:07 2504868 Link 0 |
I have seen a few lazy comments like this one. From what ive heard from an acquaintance who is a treasurer at a city club is that the board are not as flush as many other counties and traditionally dont spend a load (no big diaspora, sponsors or attendances ) Like thos other comments (one saying he is getting 6 figures without any backing the statement) do you have any proof of what he is getting paid? would be intresting to see some actual fact rather than what pat down the pub heard from his cousin rory whos boss told him harte is 12.8 billion per year and Dungiven as a personal estate Whestofthewest (Clare) - Posts: 177 - 20/09/2023 10:22:16 2504897 Link 0 |
When it comes to payment to Gaa managers you can forget about looking for facts. Don't you know that Gaa managers don't get paid, they only get expenses so the amount any manager gets from either club or county never gets a mention at executive level.

Well put. This is exactly my point. Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 922 - 21/09/2023 13:54:43 2505064 Link 0 |

You're absolutely deluded if you don't think there's money coming from donors and sponsors somewhere. Of course there's no evidence since it's all very hush hush, But I know for a fact within Meath there's club managers getting paid very decent money, so wouldn't even imagine what Mickey Harte is getting. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 254 - 22/09/2023 12:33:12 2505186 Link 0 |
So you have finally admitted he is getting paid. You are constantly asking for evidence which you admit won't exist (by the very nature of how these people get paid) Your gripe is actually with how much I have claimed he is getting paid. So you don't mind Mickey turning his back on Tyrone and will now plot their downfall with their most bitter rival just as long as he is not getting a very realistic 6 figure package? The powers that be took a post down a couple of years ago in which Wally went way overboard in his opinion of Micky Harte. Managers are all getting some kind of payements, but because it's Micky poeple like to tramp all over his name.

That's just a lie. Never was a post of mine removed by admin. Please either retract this statement or provide evidence of what post was removed. And I don't believe I have ever went over the top in my criticism of Mickey. And I have never once took it to a personal level. But there are people on here who cannot accept even the slightest bit of criticism of Mickey Harte and I find that very infuriating. This topic is very simple. Is he getting paid handsomely (which the dog in street knows he is) or is he not! If he is not then I think it will leave a very bitter taste in a lot of Tyrone supporters mouths as he would be going to manage Derry and therefore almost certainly plot the downfall of his own county for nothing. Wally I have a genuine question... what is your gripe with mickey harte? TalkToFahy (Tyrone) - Posts: 30 - 22/09/2023 19:21:44 2505253 Link 2 |
If Cavan were willing to part with a few pounds then they might be successful too. Ye definitely do those Neil Toibin yarns justice anyway.

There is a similar forum post on the appointment of Micky Harte as Derry SF manager. Why not amalgamate both? thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1879 - 22/09/2023 21:56:44 2505265 Link 0 |
There are 2 different threads on this topic. I think I have been very clear and articulated my gripe quite well on both of them. I am not going to waste my time rehashing the same points again for you. Just read my posts again and you can figure it out for yourself. Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 922 - 23/09/2023 08:48:47 2505280 Link 0 |
You can please all you want, when Micky ( who put Tyrone where they are to day ) was still manager and some Tyrone people were looking rid you did go over the top because I questioned your statements on this and all was took down. None of my business if Derry are paying him or not. Come out from under your blanket and see there are club teams in Tyrone paying tens of thousands and not a word. You're like others in life, you have a gripe against certain people. Tyrone didn't want Micky, he's not plotting the downfall of his own county, we have two men doing a good job of that already.

I come here in peace! Mickey Harte owes Tyrone Gaa nothing. Not sure why you feel the need to criticise him from taking Tyrone from no all Ireland to 3 under his reign. His is probably being substantial rewarded but which manager isn't these days. I am sure most Tyrone people couldn't care if he is rewarded or not. His obviously a very driven individual who feels Derry have a huge chance of all success as seen when they ran Kerry very close.

This is like talking to a bunch of children. I know full well that club managers are getting paid. I am the one who has been making that exact statement constantly on this forum. I think you and that other fella from Clare are intentionally missing my point because you are the type of people that can't bring yourselves to even slightly criticise saint Mickey. Just to clarify again. I don't have an issue at all with Mickey getting paid large sums of money for the Derry gig. I believe that is exactly why he is doing it. And as I have said before I can at least respect that. But as a by product of being paid handsomely he is naturally going to have to plan the downfall of Tyrone seeing as he is going to manage a team who will play them in the league and almost certainly the championship. If he is doing that for free then clearly it is a dirty action. On your last point, are you talking about Brian and Fergal. Plotting Tyrone's downfall? The same 2 men that led Tyrone to an Ulster title and their first all Ireland in 13 years, in their first year in charge? And have kept Tyrone in division 1 which Mickey failed to do twice over his disastrous last 10 years in charge. Na I am happy with a team that develops talent, plays an attractive brand of football and actually wins trophies. I suppose you would rather go back to playing horrible negative football, winning nothing, and losing talented footballs year after year.
