He could have made up his mind a bit quicker, 2 months since their last game.

I'm sure Malachy O'Rourke is bound to be top of the list but hard to know whether he will take it.

Has to be Malachy O'Rourke. He would surely be interested in it as well.

that would be some team! Havent heard if derry are looking in or out for a manager, ive often heard internal managers up there can cause rifts

Looks like it will be Micky Harte. Very interesting appointment if so! FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 260 - 18/09/2023 21:28:46 2504690 Link 0 |
...this is the worst possible news that's doing the rounds linking M Harte with the Derry job...the Co board are selling their souls fer an AI title that could have been delivered by a Derry man...can't get me head round this... spudmunky (Derry) - Posts: 42 - 18/09/2023 21:31:57 2504691 Link 0 |
Micky Harte leaving Louth to go to our neighbours Derry. All this going on while Tyrone county board sit sleeping and changed the rules the night the managers were voted in. Good luck Micky. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2167 - 18/09/2023 22:45:03 2504706 Link 2 |
I don't think many saw that coming. To be fair if anyone knows how to win an All Ireland it's Mickey Harte and the job he has done at Louth proves there is fight in the old dog yet. Word is O'Rourke didn't want it. This might sound contradictory after what I have just written but this is a gamble in many ways. I duno, it would be like Jim Gavin rocking up at Kerry!!

Which Derry man do you think could have delivered an All-Ireland?

Many Derry men have tried and failed bar one. I would be delighted if i was a derry man. Seems to be the last piece in the jigsaw. In the modern game you cant just stick within county limits. Sure arent a few derry greats managing in tyrone and wasnt paddy bradley with donegal last year? moran did a good job when he left the county. From what i know from derry firends the parochial nature of the club structure in the county lends itself to an out side manager, sure look what rory gallagher brought to derry (personal strories aside) and at the time of lifting the first ulster in 20 odd years i didn t hear many complaints about him being from fermanagh. Sure dont some of the best derry players over the years come from tyrone? enda muldoons club, forget the name
