It was obvious that attendances are going to be low until knockout games begin. Think GAA took supporters for granted with the new systems and the pricing structure for the games, thought people will still go regardless but people arent stupid and although shame low attendances and poor atmosphere at games its only way they might review and set realistic ticket prices going forward. Whoever GAA Marketing team are need to surely look in mirror, surely the obvious was to do a package deal for group games of both ireland all and tailteann cup to encourage people to buy and attend all 3 games, again lazy and thinking people will pay over the odds for their county as its championship(even though its not really) Supporters will probably pick one group game to go to then wait until knockouts begin(ie Kerry and Mayo fans at weekend probably picked that fixture,would expect small numbers when they play both Louth and Cork though. If the GAA has a Marketing Department they need to get rid of it and install a new one. If not surely one of the Companies who sponsor the Championships could provide some expertise. I don't know who prices the games now. Going to a match as a neutral isn't really an attractive proposition anymore as the games are dull, but I thought I might tip down to the Louth-Cork game as it's in Navan. Anyone got a figure for Tipp vs Waterford. It's the only one we are missing from the Munster hurling championship. Your point being? Limerick's big bandwagon hasn't hit the buffers to return to the 10-15k which supported them before their current success? Is that the point, or what? Kilkenny were never going to bring a big crowd to Wexford when they were through. Dublin hurlers have poor support and Galway were never going to bring a crowd 200km across the country. Point being in counties where hurling is strong in munster people are turning up in numbers whilst in football their not because of the difference in entertainment between the two codes. You could argue that the winner was guaranteed qualification making it meaningful in it's own right. I mean there was nearly 17k at the Ros Galway Connacht semi final and that was on TV. If the provincials had not big crowds the round robin worse. Cork V Offaly & Clare V Galway Underage Hurling finals 29,380 Kerry V Cork 14,081 Derry V Donegal 8,253 Roscommon v Sligo 5,773 Very big crowd in Thurles at Hurling underage finals, offaly had a big crowd and so did Cork . Football attendances are very poor, be more at league games between the countys, The defensive tactics are a huge factor in people giving up going which even Peter Canavan said in the papers this week & Tomas O Se said last night on the tv , only the most die hard fans will be left going to gaelic football matchs.
