Well, in relation to the Lynch/ O'Mahony incident, Downey clearly pulled with his hurley on Lynch's sternum and Lynch was nursing his 'wounds' and the ball was wel gone, when O'Mahony got himself into a wrestling match with the apparently much smaller Lynch. O'Mahony had no business starting this and as his side were fifteen points down at that stage, he would have better employed following the sliotar.

I've a bit of an issue with players who have questionable disciplinary records doing promotions on podcasts etc and would questions why the companies are sticking with them. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 639 - 26/04/2023 10:17:42 2473892 Link 1 |
With the cccc now going to look at flanagan challenge,he's more than likely going to miss clare match..how about this for selection, play cahal o neill at c/forward,move Cian to full but give him free reign to go all over the field..I take it Dan will be at 6 with Declan missing?also definitely start gearoid,I see people on forums saying he should be dropped..next Saturday is a huge game now for clare and they'll bring another huge performance I'm expecting..the reason I mentioned that change for Cian it would give clare something else to worry about..looking forward to this one big time.. I'd love to see Gearoid start at 14 if Flanagan is out..Imagine the damage he could do with some good high ball dropping into the square.. Bit like Hayes switch to 7 in 2020..completely threw Tipp on the day . .. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 26/04/2023 12:12:04 2473952 Link 0 |
Ask the companies. You might have a better chance of getting an answer to your bit of an issue rather than asking on here!

I wonder at players like that too putting themselves out there, I'd be inclined to keep my head down if I had a questionable disciplinary record. It smacks of a lack of self awareness.

I'm just more concerned about us getting the 2 points against Antrim on Saturday.

I was thinking about this too. Could cathal o neill come in for Flanagan but play the Peter Casey role. Gillane and Casey play as the two out and out inside forwards with Casey playing the Flanagan role Other option would be to bring in coughlan who has been flying and push Hayes into the forwards. You'd be better off worrying about your own county and why they can't win anything

No point worrying about that lad!

I like the last idea best with Lynch in a kind of a free. Nobody dominates Hayes at CF.

I just think this review is wrong. Review at the time. When it is done after the fact there is no way of knowing who is promoting it and definitely inconsistent. I go back again to Breen kicking and no review when it was blatantly obvious he did and the intent. Also the play was stopped. Attributing the non action to the ref dealt with it is a joke. He also dealt with the Flanagan incident by giving a free. In Flanagan's case in my opinion intent was missing and a play in progress. That is a significant difference. He was not eye balling or lining up Bennett for a hit either.

I'd find that a very strange move. Would it not be putting out the message to Lynch and forwards in the subs that the management doesn't trust them?

A ****** off Gearoid Hegarty, with a point to prove, coming on early in the second half will be a sight to behold. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 27/04/2023 21:42:32 2474302 Link 0 |
No not really, after all David Reidy, Conor Boylan and Cathal O'Neill all came in at different stages in last years championship and played stellar roles in winning close games. The fact that Hegarty is dropped on Saturday shows that no ones place is sacrosant.

It can't be easy on the guy with the attention he gets from opposition, the opposing fans, the media etc. He mis timed a shoulder and its featured in every newspaper, been discussed at length in every podcast etc etc and even branded all kinds of names, even on this site, by people who have no idea of what they are talking about. The man has been hurling week in week out at the highest level for going on 6 years and just because there is tiny handful of incidents he gets branded by the mob. There are plenty of other players who have done far worse in the same time and never had a word written about them. The true hurling fan who gets their knowledge by going to matches will already know this, the guys who form their opinion by reading\listening to the opinions of others on social media and podcasts etc simply will not as they are just ingesting whatever is popular to say at that time and whatever will stir up a bit of controversy and debate and create headlines. Also if the Hegarty is fouled a free should be given, just because the man never goes to ground or throws off the helmet and goes rolling on the ground, doesn't mean he should not get his free. The man is a legend and most people can only dream of achieving what he has done in this game. I'll be looking forward to hopefully seeing him in action on Saturday night and he'll get some support from the Limerick fans when he takes the field. Luimneach Abú!! It's the media, it's begrudgery, because he's tall, the spotlight is on him, other players get away with it, just a mistimed shoulder, he's a great player, show us your medals etc etc. gahfan (Wexford) - Posts: 639 - 29/04/2023 00:04:11 2474458 Link 0 |
