Let's ignore all the nonsense labels for a bit and give me your honest opinion on this. Russia decides to invade Moldova and annex the entire country. What do you think the international community should do? Support Moldova militarily to try retain their sovereignty or let Russia take the country, to avoid a war? Is it just simply a case of might is right? There's a reason the US signed up to protecting Ukraine in the 1990s, when it voluntarily gave up its nuclear weapons. Should the world just leave countries in Eastern Europe to perish if Russia decides it wants a piece or all of them too? WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2248 - 04/03/2025 13:51:51 2594686 Link 1 |
I get what you are saying but there is more to the Ukraine war than simply saying Russia decided to invade, The seeds of this war were sown when some agreements made with Russia when Germany was reunified which were subsequently broken? Regardless of all that in the present time the killing has to stop, it will be a negotiated settlement whenever it ends so why not do that asap? He promised to make America Great Again! Just like Hitler in 1930's who promised a 1000 year Reich, Trump promised a golden age for USA. Hitler built autobahn, Volkswagen Beetle and pursued a Germany first policy. Trump installs tariffs, isolationism, and whilst Hitler targeted Jews, Trump targets immigrants. Hitler eliminated nation's massive financial debt to France, albeit after he conquered it! Trump and Musk promised to reduce debt by mass firing of government workers. Yep, the golden age is coming alright Ha Ha

You're advocating for a racist and a rapist. Enough said. No need for debate.

Thought for the day- how did isolationism pan out for the Americans in the 1930s? 418000 dead American soldiers in the 1940s.

He made a lot of promises. But most of his electorate had their fill of liberalism and Obamacare had already pushed many to go out and vote in 2012. Conservative, pro gun lobby, pro border control. Many of them military or ex-military which can be a race in itself in the U.S. The Republicans got votes from people who wouldn't vote before that. But they also saw how Obama used social media to win and ramped that up quite a few notches. The anti-Trump media were, arguably, a bigger plus in Trump's campaigns thsn pro-Trump media like Fox News and his buddy's social media company in the last election. Main reason though, it would be difficult for someone as well known, if reviled by many, to not get elected when The Democrats ran two poor canidates agsinst him, the latter a second choice candidate to a man on the brink of senility.

Yes , Obamacare was a big Trump campaign issue in 2016. Yet, Obamacare was installed as many low income American had no healthcare insurance, and as of now is quite popular. Trump never replaced Obamacare but he said he has a plan to have a plan. Americans elected a narcissistic dictator who has no plans for anything, except to enrich himself. Americans were tired of liberalism? Yet they elected a guy who panders to hookers, and declared bankruptcy several times.

I think the not being enamoured with the alternative was a massive part of it. But Republicans wanted someone who could their electorate could easily recognise, many them admiring Trump for his wealth, even if it had dubious connections.

Well we'll see very shortly how much of Oligarchs wealth trickle down to the American public. It's more likely they will be hit by higher prices as a result of Trump's tariffs. If Quebec follow through with it's threat to cutoff electricity to NYC , poor Donny will have a tough time negotiating stairs in his Trump tower. Finally his military, cops and firemen who are staunch MAGA voters, must feel a little betrayed when Trump pardoned the insurrectionists who attacked and injured their own at the Capitol in 2021. Stop the steal? What a joke!

"Suckers and losers" is the term that Trump gave to American servicemen who died in WW2, when he visited France. For a guy who dodged Vietnam because of bone spurs, his treatment of John McCain was shabby to say the least. Trump is some hero!!

A lot of hardworking Americans had to pay more for health insurance to fund Obamacare. They weren't happy to see some people who didn't work , some of them immigrants who voted for Obama, get cheap health insurance, paid for from the fruits of their labour. They looked on it as Obama buying votes. Maybe they weren't educated enough to understand that though.

America is the only developed country which doesn't have an organized national healthcare system. Obamacare has partially addressed that. I remember attending many fundraising events in NYC in the 1980's, to cover people injured with no health insurance. Do we want to regress to that? Trump has planned to layoff 50% of Social Security workers, and if Americans see cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and social security, I don't see longevity for Donnie in the White House!

Ha ha ha. Please take your meds. Every politician promises something from prosperity to fixing ills of the previous crowd so are they "hitlers" too or do you save that for the ones that don't sing your tune?

"Trump's Tariffs" are a response to tariffs against the USA! What part of LEVEL PLAYING FIELD bothers you so much?

Trump got most of the immigrant vote at the last election. As in recent immigrants, obviously most of them are immigrants over there, and you don't have to go back too far to when their ancestors landed there.

Trump has been quoted as saying "I love the uneducated " . Also when he decided to run for political office, he decided to run as a Republican because in his own words " I'll run as a Republican, my numbers will be great as those idiots believe everything on Fox News" ! He was right!
