Just over a week to this mouthwatering game. A shoot-out could be on the cards for two fresh and up-and-coming teams. What do we think people? The reality is Defensive football is not in Galway's nature, all Armagh have to do is hold their nerve and keep their patience. The above game plan will fall apart in the 2nd half as Galway tire and their will be an opportunity for Armagh to win as Galway tire. Ah Mayo, some lad from that county will always find a way to make me smile. The entire country thinks this game is too close to call, but up pops one ladeen convinced we're either going to flop our way to victory or get murdered. Rarely we delay from games I saw this season and am a season ticket holder. Against ye yes there was evidence of this but tactical I would have thought and don't tell me all teams do not do this at various times of their development. I do admit though the narrative is generally for an Armagh win (understandably given their momentum) but there is no doubt football would be all the poorer without players like Shane Walsh. The pathway makes it a great opportunity for Galway to reach their first AI final since 2001 however will the 4 week lay off be a help or a hindrance against a Armagh side with serious wind in their sails with wins over Tyrone, Donegal? Joyce and his management will know that defensively there is still work to be done. 2-16 could have been more was too much to concede against Roscommon. Numbers are back in defence alright but the lack of engagement at times proves an issue. I think the counter attacking game that worked successfully in Connacht final should work again here as Armagh are a bit loose defensively compared to some of the other top Ulster teams. And I personally don't think Galway are getting enough credit for going to Castlebar and winning. There is not many counties in Ireland who can do that in championship football. Galway were celebrating the win and switched off by the time that second goal was scored, but your point still stands. They let a team they had bossed right back in again. We need to see a lot more ruthlessness out of them if they're going to win at this end of the championship. If they can do that, I think they're in with a great shot. If not, Armagh will edge it. The bookies have this spot on. It would be hard to predict this with any confidence. The bias in me believes Armagh will carry their momentum and get the win. One thing for sure though is I think it will be a brilliant game. The crowd will be well up for it though its a pity its the first game of the double header as there will still be plenty of empty seats around.
