Cavan already showing the flaws in this. Fermanagh put it up to Tyrone as well. Ulster should have a group stage. Let the other counties take part in this Micky Mouse competition if they want. Rolo2010 (Donegal) - Posts: 746 - 23/04/2022 18:51:51 2412557 Link 4 |

The excitement for the 2022 teacup is off the charts Leitrim_12 (USA) - Posts: 207 - 23/04/2022 18:58:08 2412561 Link 2 |

The league is an equal opportunities provider. Teams have to progress through the league and they will be rewarded. The 2022 Tailteann Cup winner will qualify for the 2023 All-Ireland Football Championship Final 16 Group Stage. That's a big reward. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 23/04/2022 19:08:19 2412566 Link 1 |

League is meaningless as shown by Cavan today. Easy for a Kerryman to say this. And befor you drone on about the Joe McDonagh. Nobody cares about it outside of a few hurling fanatics like Buff Egan. Leinster championship is poorer for having Laois and Westmeath in it. Who benefited from that today? Those counties will only progess when they have the right structures in place with adequate funding.

Well then why don't you put your name forward to be a CB delegate seeing as you've all the answers

Cavan, under Mickey Graham, are an anomaly in terms of league standing. We take it less seriously than any other side in the country. Monaghan for example take the polar opposite approach. They go hell for leather on the soft ground in spring and hope momentum follows them into championship. The best both teams have managed in the last 5 years is an all ireland semi final, amd we have beaten them in our last 2 championship meetings. But I would struggle to name 2 other sides in the same boat. Apart from Cavan and Monaghan, the league tends to reflect a team's standing in terms of quality. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5333 - 23/04/2022 21:06:41 2412609 Link 2 |

I bet you feel smart after making that comment. Just shows that all of you who supported the Tailteann know it will be dead on arrival.

Not as smart as you probably felt with your generic "no one cares about it" comment. People like you are always very fast to shut down things like this yet never have any alternative to it. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1651 - 23/04/2022 21:28:00 2412618 Link 0 |

No one cares about it except for hurling fanatics is what I actually said but that's what people like you do all the time. You should be a politician.

The league now has a more elevated status. The GPA have been supportive of proposals including league as qualification for the All-Ireland series. Cavan will have to catch themselves and treat the league with more respect, if they want to be dining at the top table. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 10075 - 23/04/2022 21:37:54 2412626 Link 1 |

Antrim fans didn't even come out to support their team today but you expect good attendances for Tailteann. Take the blindfold off. Be lucky if they get the same attendance as a junior club.

This topic isn't about hurling so why are you bringing it up?

The Tailteann Cup like any other competition will only have a chance of being successful if it has the full cooperation and support of the respective county boards, if it has then people may very well buy into it, otherwise very unlikely.

Question for people dismissing the Tailteann Cup- does your County have a single Club Championship? Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 2558 - 24/04/2022 10:24:17 2412671 Link 2 |

The way some of them talk about it it would seem to be the case.

Because they've no issues with it at club level yet as soon as it's mentioned at county level it's the end of the world. As you're clearly against it tells us your alternative? oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1651 - 24/04/2022 15:08:43 2412735 Link 0 |
