Mayo GAA conformed this week they have applied for a grant for fund a new centre of excellence adjacent to MacHale Park. How long have we been drop fed info about this now? Most counties have their own bases now. We meanwhile are fluffing about.

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "In what sense was Murphy ahead when he quit? I thought he was mediocre enough for his last couple of seasons, very obviously in the decline phase of his intercounty life cycle."
Definitely didnt watch him then
He was still very good in his last two seasons with Donegal and could still do a job now even at 35.
He was MOM against Armagh in Ulster Championship in his last year and played well in a dour Ulster Final against Derry.
Everyone folded to Armagh in the qualifiers and he rightfully retired.
He has never been "Mediocre" unlike some "stars" from your bottling home county i.e Comer never plays well in big games or Shane "Plays well once every 3 games" Walsh...

Is that really such a bad location. Facilities and land there already.

No problem with location just that we've been hearing about this for years now. Meanwhile every single club is paying by levies on the MacHale Park debt.

Is Stephen Rochford gonna stay if Andy Moran comes into the backroom team?

Don't know GreenandRed - my personal preference is that Roch would stay with the management team - but it risks a situation where there are just too many chiefs!

Going by the county board meeting it Sounds like a change of manager or McStay will have to change up management team for the year ahead. Does Mayo not earn about airing their dirty laundry in Public?

I wasn't joking earlier about getting Cora Staunton in to the backroom team. The lady has done it all and also in professional sport. Coached at different levels in women's and men's sports. Wouldn't be one for standing for bullshit and bravado. Where has doing the same thing over and over on different days got us?

Looks like a new manager is what the Co Board are after. Very unfair on MC Stay. He is trying to rebuild a team. Lost to Galway by one point and Derry on penalties. The penny obviously hasn't dropped with some people. At the moment Mayo are not just good enough.

Coming from a sligo one that mayo are just not good enough?

Mcstay said himself that he doesn't need to rebuild the team when he took over horan already did that let's not forget the same team pretty much bar keagan & mullin got to 21 final
.
Funny how you say lost to Galway by a point by a very controversial free at the end and penalties to derry..

Only ever a kick of a ball between ourselves and galway also
Galway got to the final yet you say mayo are not good enough?..

I'm saying give the manager a bit of time.
I'm not trying to be a smart ****.
An All Ireland title is the only thing on her radar, ye have enough Connacht titles. That All Ireland won't come for a few years irrespective of who is managing the team. A good few retired over the last few years and Aiden O Shea, and the 2 O Connors plus Paddy Durcan have an awful lot of football played. They will probably retire in the next few years
Look how long it took MC Geeney to win a trophy.

I don't agree on them being not good enough. We are in a new era of football. 6-7 teams could make the final now. Not the case even 2-3 years ago.

Fair point. You would imagine the All Ireland winners will come from in of the Following next year. Armagh, Dublin, Galway Kerry, Donegal,Derry, Tyrone,Mayo,

Didn't get the result that was needed either in The Hyde versus Dublin. Too many wrong sides of tight results in big games for years have cost us Eoinóg. Nearly worse is thinking a one point loss means we're at the level of teams that can consistently close out games. Look at what Kieran McGeeney did with his Armagh team who also had problems closing out big games the past few years. I don't know what was said or done but they were in calm and in control after their Ulster Final defeat. They did the right things at the right time. So hopefully we can learn from our mistakes, like Armagh did and improve to put things right.

There's definitely been progress in 2024 under Kevin McStay. No silverware but more games for newer players. The defence has improved but needs to be switched on until the final whistle. We have some good forwards but balance is poor. Too reliant on Ryan for results in big games. Tommy Conroy takes too many games to get to a high level. Hopefully they invest some time in having him in top form earlier in the year and improving his confidence and consistency.

McStay doesn't dodge questions or shirk reponsibility. I hope he's still in charge for 2025. But thinking the rest have regressed, when they will look to improve, and we're only a kick of the ball from them when they can score from that kick, is going backwards. Need to work on what Mayo can do and other counties will do the same.

Maigh Eo Abú!
