R Galligan, E Finnegan, P Faulkner, L Fortune, G Smith, K Clarke O Kiernan, T Galligan, J Smith, O Brady, C Conroy, Cian Madden, Conor Madden, P Lynch, Caoimhin O'Reilly. That's a stab in the dark mind you but I'd expect to have 12 of them right ! ................................ 5allirelands (Cavan) - Posts: 90 - 28/01/2022 09:58:41 2396821 Link 0 |

Suspended. Apparently got a red card after full time against Tyrone in Championship last year. So that carries forward to the first round of the league.

I don't think I've enjoyed two mckenna cup games as much. I don't know whether it's the football or the covid, but even Armagh in the freezing cold was very enjoyable I have to say. Gearoid performances worth the entrance fee alone. 97Cavans (Cavan) - Posts: 455 - 28/01/2022 14:02:32 2396860 Link 0 |

My team would be exact same I think. And I'd imagine it'll be close to what Mickey goes with

Good win for Cavan in difficult conditions…. Now let's build on this and win every league game… A great start ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 4243 - 30/01/2022 15:46:55 2397183 Link 0 |

Well done lads, had to grind it out in extremely tough conditions. Leitrim fought extremely hard and will take points of a lot of teams. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 30/01/2022 17:22:33 2397232 Link 0 |

A good win considering the conditions. It was a rotten day, pure and simple. Hard to judge the wind as it swirled, and the rain and pitch had the ball like a bar of soap. We played the 1st half well, killing a lot of time while we played into the wind, and picked 0ff scores when we did. Didn't use the wind very effectively in the 2nd half, but did enough to keep them at arms length. They found it very hard to break us down, and we were safe enough. Paddy Lynch is a baller, hit some serious scores. He's the great white hope as a scoring forward as far as I can see. Did well without GMac, Jason McLoughlin is such a player too. Anyway, good win with the conditions. Move onto next week Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2488 - 30/01/2022 17:59:37 2397255 Link 0 |

Good to get the points today, Leitrim were always going to be really fired up for this game, good to get through it without gearoid and Gerry smith they would have added points today.

A good win in awful conditions yesterday. Leitrim were up for that and it was never going to be the type of day where we had it won by 35/40mins. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5333 - 31/01/2022 12:05:53 2397429 Link 0 |

Absolutely on Martin Reilly. Great to see him back on the field. owes Cavan nothing but he comes back year after year and does the job. He was a calming influence when he came on, and it was no coincidence that we had a purple patch and went 4 up when he came onto the field. Just full of class. What a man and a servant to Cavan.

As Meathman I have to say I always admired Martin O Reilly, a great servant to Cavan football.

How many points to go up from division 4 and where are the banana skins for Cavan? For me 11 points would be comfortable as most teams will take points of each other. Tipp game should be fairly balanced, and we sometimes randomly struggle going to places like Sligo - hopefully not this year! Calving4Sam (Cavan) - Posts: 91 - 01/02/2022 08:22:18 2397619 Link 0 |

Cavan in all reality should be getting 14pts easily in this division…. I think we might have negotiated our way past the banana skin on Sunday…. Tipperary have lost most of their squad of a couple of seasons ago and shouldn't threaten much… If Cavan keep their head and treat every game with respect they will have little problems… If we end up loosing to any team in this division it won't bode too well going forward….

I fully agree with you, if Cavan applies themselves in every game we should be winning every game, I would have thought the same as you in that going to carrick on Shannon in the first game especially missing a few players most importantly gearoid and Leitrim first game at home under Andy Moran could have been a banana skin, weather conditions and all it was very good to get the win.
