20s management were hit with a reality check last night. Management need to take a look at some of their choices and start playing players in their correct position. Callan should be playing 6 in that team with mcginnity starting in that inside forward line. Mulligan and McCaul proved their class and showed why they are on match day panels for their senior teams. Young mccaffrey did exceptional while still being u18. Monaghan defense seemed quite shaky and could be exploited if left exposed. Good players but they need to be positioned correctly!

I'd imagine, as is always the case, Monaghan fans will travel to Croke Park in numbers on Saturday evening. We are a small county who value any level of success. And competing in a league final, albeit Div 2, is more than enough reason to travel and support the team.

Not questioning Monaghan fans support, or our own county's support. 2 very passionate groups. But how many were in The Hyde a few weeks ago?

Are we still advocating for PC to be the senior manager ?

I strongly disagree with anyone saying the result isn't important...i think roscommon will have one eye on championship so with all factors in mind, itll be very disappointing if we dont win...its 10 years since we lifted any significant trophies and 11 since a league title. i thoroughly enjoyed that day in 2014 and am really hoping for a victory MalsBalls (Monaghan) - Posts: 215 - 28/03/2025 13:20:12 2599065 Link 0 |
Wouldn't be getting to excited about this fixture ye it's a cup but it's only the league and if u play Real well your only giving donegal/derry ideas what monaghan need is to get back to an ulster final and really competing again your playing a roscommon team that has 1 foot on the plane and don't want any injuries think some of the players that haven't played in croker would be best to give them experience Farneyblueandwhite (Monaghan) - Posts: 33 - 28/03/2025 13:53:21 2599069 Link 0 |
With Malone doing his current work that he's doing with seniors? Absolutely. If we hadn't a coach of his calibre available I'd reassess

Roscommon on their day are the 3rd best team in Connacht. Monaghan on theirs are 4th best in Ulster. A titanic battle of mediocrity awaits. Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1169 - 28/03/2025 17:15:04 2599109 Link 0 |
Wow, I hope the players and the backroom team don't share similar sentiments to what has been expressed here and don't just view this game as a "challenge" match. Blackcardnot (USA) - Posts: 41 - 28/03/2025 20:01:22 2599134 Link 1 |
I understand your frustration Cavan boy. Just chillout. You should be delighted you didn't get promoted.

The league finals all of them have the feel of the charity shield these days ahead of the main business that is the championship which is wrong as growing up league titles meant everything. not getting relegated getting promoted matters more to counties now than winning leagues. The GAA doesn't promote the finals enough. I'll be honest when I heard we were being moved to the Saturday night the match lost a bit of its allure to me. Least on the Sunday we'd been half of the double bill with mayo and kerry now its a double act with a couple of div 4 hurling counties and the seagulls in a less than quarter full croke Park on a Saturday evening. Will do the younger players good playing at HQ v a good on their day roscommon team. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1871 - 28/03/2025 20:47:57 2599141 Link 0 |
Agree with you there. A final is there to be won and in Roscommons case the following weeks game in London will take care of itself. I joke about us fielding a strong team as there may very well be changes come throw in. I hope it's a cracker.

Roscommon have 25 Connacht Senior football titles. On many days, we've been best in Connacht. Always liked Monaghan. Looking forward to Saturday evening.

Why all the negativity on here, why cant we go full tilt tomorrow night win it and then move onto ulster and beat the winners of donegal/derry. We need to start realising we are a div 1 team and we are good enough to be dining at the top table. We have went about our transition nicely and blooding players and loosing older players nicely too. We will play div 1 next year and believe it or not we will survive it too, because guess what, WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH!! We have coasted through div 2 at a canter and even our younger players look way ahead of all the other hype teams in that division. monaghanmad (Monaghan) - Posts: 406 - 28/03/2025 22:45:08 2599162 Link 0 |

What about we forget about this match and go and beat donegal now that's a result and a statement ??
