Very disappointing, no other words for it. Listened on the Fermanagh FB page, sounded like we hadn't a sniff of it apart from two quick fire goals...Agree with Jobber, Mickey Harte had the Louth fellas ticking over very nicely, the lads need to go up a couple of gears big time, quick..

Fermanagh never an easy place to go to and they've had the better of us consistently over past fifteen years, league and championship, from various supporters who travelled, the consensus seems to be we were thoroughly outplayed apart from a late five minute spell. Fermanagh spurned 3 glorious goal scoring opportunities in first half and anything other than a home win would have been undeserved. Our key attackers spent more time inside our own 45 rather than the opposite one and the result was Our defenders were our top scorers and a league campaign resulting in victories over Longford, Antrim and Offaly is very poor. We were considered favourites for promotion after Tailteann Cup and have had a full panel to pick from throughout the league. We also had the advantage of four home games. Louth are in contention for promotion to Div 1 with one round of the league to go and while that's unlikely they have four wins out of six in a very competitive div 2. Championship match against Louth looks like it will be stern challenge.

Many people around the county blaming Dessie for our poor performances and I understand he is the Manager and it is his reasonability but this is the same division that Jack Cooney failed to get us out of last year!!

All roads now lead to our game with Louth, we will go in as underdogs and we will need one hell of a performance to beat them but I believe they can.

Hopefully we see some new lads get a run out next weekend in our dead rubber game against Tipp

The reality is that the last two years represented a great opportunity to reach div 2 which is a minimum requirement. 2025 the earliest that can be achieved and how many of Heslin, Martin, Dolan, Maguire, Daly and co will be available at that stage and undoubtedly not the players they are now or have been. They are our key men and deserve div 2 football based on ability and service but it's highly unlikely now. Jack would have a manager under pressure last summer had there been no Tailteann Cup. New management don't have that luxury and the Louth game is a key one for management.

I expected alot more from westmeath at weekend, Sam McCartney, Wallace and Kevin Maguire were the 3 best players on the day. Fermanagh had decent breeze first half , westmeath seemed content to sit deep and happy to hold to a 5/6 point gap at half time on basis come out all guns blazing but never got going.
Only for a crazy 2 minutes were Fermanagh lapsed for 2 goals (not for first time) that it looked like could get something but thankfully held on.

Heslin lucky not to have been sent off for 2 yellows.
Louth going well but wouldn't rule yourselves out of turning them over

Fermanagh away was always going to be a tough game-they have only lost once in this league campaign-away to Offaly by 1 point but Westmeath were way off their game and Fermanagh were by far the better team.It was a tough physical battle which always is against northern teams and the home team won this battle but also played some great football during the game.This season Westmeath have played some very good football in games and some people calling for the management team to step away is harsh.They are only 6/7 games into their role and need time to put their stamp on things but most importantly they need support behind them.Promotion is now gone for this season but a good performance against Tipp next weekend will hopefully get them going again in the lead up to the Louth game which will be tough but no means impossible.

Looks like a strong under 20 team named for tonight. Will be a tough task to beat kildare at their home venue. Is Seán leech injured ? Interesting to see how baker and scahill do with the bit of senior experience under their belt

Sean Leech an undoubted loss, hamstring and looks unlikely to feature in first three games at least. Decent looking team named as previous poster mentioned, Kildare favourites to regain Leinster title and think they reached All Ireland final last year, lot depends on how many players still underage. Kildare underage and schools football a distance ahead of rest of province in last 4/5 years, obviously Hasn't translated to senior set up yet. Hopefully we're competitive for long spells tonight, forwards look decent, not as confident about our defence.

Some interesting stats on our u20 team for tonight:

18 different clubs represented in the whole panel.

11 different clubs represented in the starting 15

Caulry have the most players on the panel (5 players) this doesn't include Alan Maylnn who is Caulry free taker who is underage because he played u19s final last year.

Garrycastle are the only senior club not to have a player on the panel.

Two junior clubs are represented (St Joesphs and Multy)
