Matthew Whittaker should have been man of the match tonight. Could have done no more for TUS Midlands. Looking forward to seeing him in action again when the Rossies visit Westmeath in a few weeks time.

Commentators choice of Man of the match, super player. Brian Cooney was also very good. Best Sigerson campaign in a long time for TUS, Well done to David Martin and his players.

Whittaker Phenomenal. Covered a lot of ground always looking to take his man on and go direct. Brandon Kelly looked very threatening everytime he had the ball in the opposition half especially in the first half. Brian Cooney was quite threatening in the second half also. TUS put on a great display and put it up to DCU. IF everygame was half this entertaining there would be no need for new rules at all.

It will be interesting to see what team will start on Sunday perhaps a few more new faces like Joe Moran and a few others

You'd imagine O'Sullivan for O'Hara. Personally would have Danny Mc in for Stephen Smith. If Joe Moran was to come in you'd imagine it'd be for Enda Gaffney

Monaghan are 1/6 for the game on Sunday. Westmeath 5/1.
Fair reflection?

Not a fair reflection I'd say. Westmeath undone by a late, late Louth goal last week. Are Louth very inferior to Monaghan at this point? Certainly not. Monaghan accounted for Cavan fairly comfortably in the end in Breffni on Saturday, but not without a scrap to do it. An 8-point win is really a 4 point win now, if you get me.
A lot of new players on both panels, but Beggan, McCarthy, Bannigan, McAnespie give that bit more experience to Monaghan. That, and the Clones factor makes 1/2 to 1/3 more reasonable. Ray Connellan is the standout player of two teams IMO, he gives Westmeath a big edge around the middle. Looking forward to it.

I saw this week too that Westmeath GAA are putting a task force into place to revive football in Athlone. It brought me back to a conversation I had over a few pints with Athlone GAA men in Gertie Browns some years ago, they were predicting the death of football in the town and I wasn't buying it. They were on the money it seems. Amazing, given the size of the town and the long history of successful club teams.

i think monaghan will be a step too far , the 2 home games against meath and cavan are the only two we can win

1/6 is very insulting to Westmeath surely this is a mickey take by someone??.we were unlucky against Louth and we have enough talent to put up a good fight.Westmeath need a big game from Ray Connellan over the entire game-hes our go to player now so he needs to lead.I have every confidence that we wont be hammered -these lads will turn up.

There's no one saying we'll be hammered, bookies put these prices to tempt the punter to put a few quid on the outsider, we are rank outsiders to win the game, that's all those odds reflect, Monaghan had an impressive eight point win away to Cavan, Cavan are regarded as a top three side in this division, Monaghan have just spent over ten years in division one which was underpinned by a superb home record, we're in transition, favourites for relegation alongside Meath and Down, we played well against Louth especially considering our new faces but winning away in the league is always difficult, look at last weekend, Cork, Roscommon, Dublin, Galway, Tyrone, all won at home, only our result and Monaghan's went to away team, a win on Sunday would be rightly seen as the shock of the weekend.

Westmeath will fall short again on Sunday. Unreal we are playing an outfield player in goal and I can't see the point of it . Are we the only county in Ireland with only one goalkeeper on the panel. Its a total insult to all our club goalkeepers that would give anything to play with their county. Manager should be pulled up on this coming in with silly ideas .

There were a number of goalies in the panel, I believe two walked out early. from what I saw against louth, there was nothing from the keeper (conor) that Jason couldn't have done. I actually believe Jason Daly would have stopped the goal or at least dealt with it better. This is not a reflection on conor as he is a fantastic player, but an outfield player. Hopefully Jason back from injury soon

It shows our poor support levels when there's lads on here posting and only displaying their lack of knowledge about the team, anyone in Cusack last Sunday would have seen Jason Daly togged out, it's no harm trying Conor McCormack in goals, Jason Daly is in his last couple of years at this level and there's a shortage of top quality keepers at club level.

I am very aware Jason Daly was togged last week him been the only Goalkeeper on the panel. Some very good goalkeeper's within the county but they are been ignored . What's wrong with brining in our under 20 Goalkeeper for backup . You seem to have all the answers when it comes to selection and mangers always having a cut at someone.

Try and read the posts properly, I was actually defending the management and you were the one having a cut off the new manager.

Name the club keepers who are good enough to be on the county panel? Trevor Martin is and he's decided it's not for him. Who else is there?

And rightly so as I said silly idea going into league football with a outfield player in goals .

Anyone at the match today? Sounded like another positive performance but just couldn't get ahead. At very least we appear to be very competitive so far. Seemed to be a lot of changes to the team. Any of the injured contingent back in the squad ?

Midfield was a major issue today. Connellan and Guerin didn't start which seems strange as clearly Connellan wasn't injured. Rory Beggan won lots of ball at midfield and physically we struggled in other areas. Our starting forward line contains some very light forwards and in February conditions it's tough for them. Even after two rounds results are not going our way, Meath had a big win today and Down made a great comeback. A relegation battle was always on the cards and despite two decent performances nothing has changed in that regard.
