I've seen comprehensive wins in u14,u15 and u16 county development squads in the last couple of weeks so there is obviously good work going on there. In relation to the minor losing to Meath, I see that as a bit of a freak result because that age group has some very talented players, and were also missing a few of their best players for that game, that age group has some great prospects, McCormack, Hogan, Maloney, Clarke, O'Reilly etc. Again I've seen recent good results in the schools also, cbs mullingar beating Birr in u14 most notably. We have clearly entered the Kehoe cup to blood the young players in, otherwise Fortune wouldn't have a 50 man panel. You have to try look for the positives Claretandblue because there are many. We have plenty to work with if we are smart. Player retention after u17 is the important thing for a county like ourselves, I think the current u19 competition should be played earlier in the year with more games as well. Final is this week Castletown vs Clonkill

lets be fair organizing under 19 matches is a nightmare.Talent we have but we deaperately need to broaden our base. The amalgamation teams Na Piarsaigh,Clann Na Gael and St Vincents plus Plunketts,Southern Gaels and Daltons need the coaching committee to help with people on the ground and Brigids need to wake up

I recently seen Tyrellspass GAA facilities development plans. The facilities will be very impressive once complete. I noticed that a hurling wall is included within the plans. Is this an unusual facility for a football club to have? runner90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 2 - 06/12/2021 12:39:28 2391838 Link 0 |
Great win for Castletown in the u19 final, to add their minor championship win earlier in the year. Plenty coming through and will hope to get a lot of these young guys through to the senior team. Dheen (Westmeath) - Posts: 770 - 06/12/2021 14:36:48 2391868 Link 0 |
Typically now known as a skills wall, can be easily used for football as well as hurling. Wouldn't St. Brigid's hurling club have an association with Tyrellspass?

Yes, Brigids have a strong historic link with Tyrrellspass .... however there is a big hurling club loitering close by. jfd (Westmeath) - Posts: 240 - 06/12/2021 16:20:03 2391882 Link 0 |
Yes a number of Tyrellspass footballers would also play hurling with St. Brigid's. Although I don't they think would ever use the Tyrellspass facilities for training.

U19 is impossible to schedule. Na Piarsaigh would have been fancied to win it but had to play CTG without Jack Geoghegan (lomans) and Shane Williams (away with county hurlers). Only a puck of a ball between CTG, Raharney,Clonkill and Na Piarsaigh at U19. No other team even close to them.

Where was this reported? Couldn't be for real? Is he not the U20 manager again?

Most definitely is. Fennelly said it on midlands radio 3 the other day. He said one to one coaching was his role.

Young McCormack I think has underage contract with Leinster rugby so don't know how that'll work hurling wise. Any word on how Fortune is doing with seniors? puglerdaly (Westmeath) - Posts: 125 - 04/01/2022 20:58:54 2393615 Link 0 |
