I don't think Carlow can be as bad as they were in the 2nd half last time out in Aughrim.
They made a big mistake sitting back when Wicklow got their black card. They gave up in the 2nd half with the exception of Doyle from Rathvilly.

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I never said anything about the Carlow attitude to the Tailteann game. I was going on posts on your forum after the drawn and championship games. It would be great if people actually read posts and not be picking nits out of context. I certainly agree that there is no cannon fodder on display next week. We are two closely matched teams on recent form. Best of luck to all and may the best team win.

I read your post, why would you think people would think you were talking about games in the past when you were actually talking about our chances against Carlow next week. Now your trying to bs your way out by accusations against other posters.

Good to see the Village still with the production line in operation.

Bit of a discussion on the Wicklow GAA Facebook regarding group Teams in the Feile, St Nicks are strong and are fielding two teams (1 in Div 1 and 1 in div 4) ,Dunlavin could definitely go on their own with that age group. It was mentioned by a delegate at the last coiste na nog meeting of 2022 that stand alone clubs wouldn't go into Division 1 at 15s for 2023 as St Nicks were to strong at the moment.

Im not on the wind up by the way.

I expect us to hammer Carlow next week, by about 10 points.

I expect us to win but I can't see 10pts. I will be happy just to win. If I had to bet I would venture 3 or 4 pts Carlow are better than they showed last day and we are still developing - I just hope that Oisin gets another 3 or 4 yrs. when you see how Limerick, Clare and Sligo have gone on the last week or two you get a sense of how much we have to do. The only bright spot for us was the Kildare show against the Dubs. If we accept that we could have been closer to Kildare and that they could have possibly shaded the Dubs it does give a little boost. Not to get carried away though.

FT

If we get a manager that lasts longer than the last few I will be happy.

I'd say we would all agree with that.

Why are they making such as fuss over on the Carlow forum about what I said ?

You would swear I mentioned Thomas Walsh.

Maybe it because you like stirring the pot, maybe they will show your post to the Carlow team for motivation.

Best of luck to the senior team and management against Carlow. Difficult one for the team, we will be favourites but I would expect an improved performance from Carlow after their display the last day. A bit like the league, we need to win our home game to have a good chance to advance in the competition. Longford away in the next game will be a tough game; a team that have been playing in Division 3 for a number of years. Then our final game will be against Limerick who played in Division 2 this year. As I say tomorrow's game is a must win if we want to give ourselves the best opportunity to progress to the next round.

There was nothing between both teams in the 1st half. They didn't come out for the 2nd half. They sat back when we got black carded , same mistake we made v Sligo. This is a completely different competition so anything at all could happen. We could beat them very handy or else vice versa . New competition so all form goes out the window.

I see the team is picked and a few of the younger An Tochar lads on the bench. They will feature no doubt and bring that little bit extra to the game.

I also think that this could go either way. We were a bit too hit and miss during the league to be getting over confident. Carlow and Wicklow are of a similar standard in my opinion and we need a steady few years improvement year on year to try to build a decent team. I hope some of the new recruits get a run on Sunday. We badly need six forwards who can take scores from any angle, although in the modern game you need midfielders and backs who can score too. Best of luck to all on Sunday.

I saw the team and substitutions, Liam and I have to say based upon the matches I saw in the club championship last year and I saw a lot of the games, these guys stood out any time I watched An Tochar. I think they are there on merit and I would like to see them get game time in the Tailteann cup as I think they will play a big part if we are to stay in Division 3 next year. Plus I think their game is suited to dry conditions and fast ground which should be the conditions this time of year.

If we lose I will happily go on the Carlow forum and devour the humblest of pies.

That will not happen though.

Just looking through the football league results I see that Rathnew beat Blessington in Blessington earlier. Based on results so far, Rathnew will have a say in where Miley ends up later in the year. I know that no championship medals are handed out in May, but , like I said a month or two ago when we were predicting who might lift the cup in 23 we write the Villagers off at our peril.
