Totally agree, I'm confident surely but some people's idea of resting players is redicalus. We put out our strongest team. If things are going well then maybe make a few substitutions. Louth are a decent side and I certainly would not be underestimating them and Jim won't either. Scenicparish (Donegal) - Posts: 592 - 20/06/2025 11:38:09 2619433 Link 1 |
Get a grip lad. Donegal are 1/14 for a reason. You would need a lot of money on to get pittance back. Bookies know what there at. Only hope of a shock this weekend is in Newry and that's a long shot

Louth a exceptionally well coached team, extremely fit and extremely disciplined defensively. Reckon it will be a tight game, hopefully Donegal to edge it maybe 0-20 v 1-15 Louth. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1394 - 20/06/2025 14:58:33 2619487 Link 0 |

It may be a poor price but to guarantee a few bob back its still worth it rory. Stick even 1400 on and it's a handy 100 to pay for your day out on Sunday. As you say no chance of a shock in this one so why not make a few pound? The more you put on the more you make.

They almost lost to Clare. We should be beating them easily

I feel we're definitely improving massively in all lines of the team, bar one. Patton much better under the high ball, defence fouling less in scorable areas, midfield more industrious, Hughie improved massively, half forward line on fire most of the time but massive full forward issue. The league is the league, but amongst all four division players, from our three forwards, our top was ranked 98th with 13pts from 5 matches. Paddy and Oisin just not firing like we need them, and Brennan obviously not doing enough for Jim to earn a starting spot. We'll be facing the best defences in the country going forward, and this could very well be our undoing. Hard to know looking at the club scene if there's anyone out there who could plug the gaps for the rest of Jim's tenure, or even the young forwards on the bench. Funny, when Donegal were winning nothing before Jim's first spell, we always had ridiculously good forwards, but I suppose the way the defensive football plagued the club scene, no youngster in his right mind would enjoy playing in that position through that period. You could stop for lunch in McGlynns Castlefinn about 8 miles from Ballybofey. They fed the Donegal team for years when they used to train there.

McCahill from 4 masters is an absolute baller. Reminds of O'Donoghue from Mayo. Half a sniff and the net is rattling. He is still very young though. Think he's eligible for the twenties for another 2 years (definitely is next year). I'd say he'll be close sooner rather than later. There is much debate about Gallen in particular. He was good when he came on against Cavan and I thought he did ok last weekend too. He was making lots of runs but Coyne was excellent tagging him.

That's true Eddie, but didn't you say Ban wouldn't play this year and then Jason was gone. I hope you get this prediction right. I was delighted you got the other two wrong.

Louth are a decent side but Donegal should be winning this comfortably to set themselves up for Croke Park. Louth have achieved what they wanted to achieve this year. Donegal by 7-10 JimB1991 (Donegal) - Posts: 85 - 20/06/2025 22:21:50 2619544 Link 0 |
Actually think there could be a potential shock here if Louths main players play their best game. Mulroy as good a Murphy. Donegal had a tough group stage. Louth getting energy back. Expect a big push from them here.
