Any word on the senior panel yet when will it be released. Heard over 40 went on training holiday but up to 10 were dropped from panel on return from the training camp.

Can't see the point on taking lads on a training camp and dropping them as quick as there back. Reading between the lines Kevin mc gettigan. Finbar Roarty. Domhnall mc Giolla Bhríde and kj molloy we're out. But Ethan o Donnell seems to be Aussie bound.. I think the two o donnells and Aaron Doherty are back too

A few dropped just before as well to make way for the Glenties men. No Ethan O'Donnell.

Replying To Donegal_abroad:  "There have been candidates opposing in recent years but, and I might be wrong here, isn't there some element where the executive have more votes than the actual clubs when it comes to ratifying positions? I thought the system was rigged in effect but I'm open to being wrong on that. It's very often not a case of nobody else being willing, it's wrapped up in an old boys club in many cases."
Yes the executive all have a vote and also the executive will canvass their own clubs to ensure they get who they want elected. It's almost impossible if the person going to for re-election is ousted. Also the chairman has the casting vote in the case of a tie

Lot of reasons to take them. Experience for a start. integrating them into the wider panel, there will be injuries and these lads will be on standby then to be called up. Getting a top class training camp done and getting them up to that next level that's required. Getting them to even experience that would be massive in developing the potential of young players and seeing what the standard they need to be at. Bonding as well is another big part of it. If the funding was there to accommodate 10 extra players why would you not bring them.

I could keep going on, its bad you can't even seem to see 1 good point of bringing them.

That's your opinion lad but it doesn't mean you're right. A lot of lads were on a high going there but to come back then and not to be on the squad. Some young lads mightn be prepared to hang about, waiting on the call . There's always pros and cons.

You cant' have 40 players in a squad

You want to give a chance to as many as possible

It's up to them to show they want it/are capable/are physically ready

It's better than just picking the same boys as last year cause they were in the squad last year.

How else would Jim and his backroom team know how lads perform at training without trying them out? Some lads may not be up to the hard graft.

If anyone was removed from the panel then I'm sure Jim and the coaches sat down with them and explained their thinking and also outlined a path back in. As someone else said, you can't have a panel of 40.

Yes I've heard about this but can't actually believe it happened.

Well, if you want to start criticising Jim, good luck to you. However, if they are stories leaking out about how they were dropped, they are from the player's side. And they are probably angry and hurt. So that's how I'd view it. But then again, I've heard nothing.
