I said successful club and not senior team. Boardroom boys aside we are top of the senior champ pile. Won multiple senior reserve and junior championships. Dominated u21 championship and right down to underage level. Winning hurling championships and done it all in the past in the ladies game including 5 ulsters.. Success for Gaa teams shouldn't be measured in how many trophies they win. Success for a lot of clubs is keeping the show on the road every year, managing to field teams in rural areas when times are hard and emigration has ripped the heart out of communities. Success is having a club that is at the heart of the community. Most clubs know at the start of a season that they won't win anything but they still keep going because of a love for the games and a pride in their parish. If it was all about winning cups and championships we'd only have a handful of clubs in every county. A brave effort by Glenties but came up short in the end. Hard to win a game of that intensity with only one sub. Strange they didn't take on a few more, they must be saving the 21s for Ballyshannon tomorrow. Good contest, NC were unlucky not to bring it to extra time I thought, they done well but both sides missed a lot of chances but there were some brilliant scores in it too. I thought the penalty was a bit soft, unusual to see a ref give a pen like that just on his umpires say so, he wasn't giving it himself. Great to be involved in battles like this evening, even though we were in the wrong side of the result. Proud of the team, left everything on the field. I think nerves got the better of us in the first 20 minutes, and that slow start ultimately cost us. We had them rattled, but they probably just deserved the win. Ultimately we missed a real scoring forward in mcgettigan, but that is life. Good season and enjoyable game. Well done Naomh Conail, proud to be from the club. Now let's hope Donegal show the same grit and passion and start competing again against the big teams. We are well capable of mixing it with the best.
