So no surprise." You dont even have to go back that far. Same story last year after being beat by LK Gaels in the Junior semi final in Glenties. I don't like the style myself but it's successful and if my club had a continued period of dominance playing that muck - I would not care one bit. I don't think there's a club in the county that can honestly say they always treat referees with respect. But a line has to be drawn somewhere, otherwise noone will want to take up the whistle. Who could blame them? Some of the abuse they're subjected to is horrendous. And this is in an era where we're supposed to all be more aware when it comes to mental health. Clubs rightly promote initiatives to support mental health campaigns and charities. But does that all then go out the window when officials are verbally and sometimes even physically attacked? Most refs are genuine people who don't go out to make mistakes and have no hidden agendas.
