Is that not what I said?!!!

No word on a new manger BUT we will be looking!!!!!
You hardly expect us to stay with the same lad who failed miserably in the Intermediate Championship semi final this year and collapsed in the final last year.

Maybe Intermediate is your level. You have also failed miserably in the Senior Championship in recent years.
The gap between winning Intermediate and participating in Senior is quite a leap as Ballymahon and Killashee have found in recent years.
Actually who were the last Intermediate champions surviving at Senior level.

Maybe Intermediate is our level but we should be competing to win a championship.
We completely fell apart in the game against Kenagh this year and threw last years final away.
We should be aiming to win the Intermediate, we don't have to go up as many teams have chosen to stay down.
But at the end of the day we should be winning Intermediate Championships!

Whats the chances that Senior Championship will get restructured and more teams moved from Senior to Intermediate and then from Intermediate to Junior? I'm not hopeful, but as has been said by many posters on here many times before, it needs to happen.

The county board should be looking to improve intermediate standard in longford because lets be honest the standard in the intermediate championship is absolutely brutal. To do this you need to make the championship more competitive. Senior championship in longford should only be 10 teams.
Every blind man and his dog can see this makes sense but at the end of the day its about money.
The biggest attendances are senior games, and the more games means more money.
Its always down to money

The intermediate championship is the most competitive in Longford, ok the standard isn't great but it's an exiting hard to predict championship. The junior is a complete joke

Agree 2 sole clubs, walkover etc team struggling as well also underage needs looking at support systems etc

We need to move to an 8 - 8 - 8 system between the 3 grades

How on earth has Father Manning Gaels gone back so much? They are just about intermediate standard in Longford. Sad to see as they have great tradition.

go thought the last 20 years and every club have been have a bad few years at some stage, Clonguish won a relegation final in 2021 to stay senior, Kenagh where a Junior club in 2019, Kilashee win a 2 in a row at inter and cant field a team after it! most clubs in Longford have had issues at some stage! having a good tradition wont win you championships.

So Meath in the Leinster championship opener with the winner fed to the Dublin wolves. I'd say its something to look forward to.... but it isn't really is it.

To be fair I don't think anybody will be too disappointed to see Longford coming their way in the leinster championship. Possibly the weakest team in it

I can't see anything other than a convincing Meath win here. Not a very appealing draw for any players on the fence about whether to give it another year or not

I don't think you've gone through every club there or even scratched the surface. Nor do I think winning a relegation final to stay senior could be compared with FMGs lot. They were absolutely pitiful in the Intermediate semi this year. They've gone back so much, had super u21 teams about ten yrs ago, have a big population but have regressed so much in recent years. Even Clonguish had to loose that relegation final they'd be straight back up in 12 months time. Kilashee is very rural and not a great example to use as they always struggled for numbers.

Well id be awhile going through every club and no need to, im not comparing anyone I have just given an opinion not slating any club or anyone! as I said every club will go through a hard period nothing got to do with population size or numbers.

The Under 21 championship got under way at the weekend.

Wins for Clonguish, Sean Connollys/Mostrim and a walkover win for Dromard in the A championship.

In the B there was wins for Carrickedmond, Granard, Rathcline and Cashel/St. Brigids.

Second round of games on this coming weekend.

Killoe very unfortunate not to beat Clonguish. For all the talk about their young lads the Killoe youngsters seemed just as good. Darren Moffett went off injured, could be a big loss for the Killoe seniors
