Maybe get others out would have helped or some of them who maybe on fence yes we may not have players but some of blame has to lie with manager too with money he gets he is not beyond blame either.

Yes with injuries he was but other players not going partly he has responsibility for that. From what I hear he didn't like being questioned. That's another discussion for another day Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 543 - 03/06/2024 13:40:26 2549167 Link 0 |
Anyway whatever county board decides they won't listen to what forum says anyway. Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 543 - 03/06/2024 13:44:22 2549172 Link 0 |
I doubt he will be in post beyond the end of this week. Can't come back from that. He got a second year to turn things around after how poor last year was and it mostly got worse. So that's that for him. Next appointment will be from inside the county, partly because nobody will want to touch us and partly because that is the only way to reset now. Funny the things you come across when your interests and work collide. I assume you're talking about this Lorcan https://www.crunchbase.com/person/lorcan-barden He's in Melbourne Australia. What was the half time tunnel bust up? Sounds juicy!

That looks like him alright. I can't rightly remember what happened but I think it happened at half time in the 1993 leinster final. Going up the tunnel at half time one of the Dubs hit a Kildare player a dig, then Lorcan flattened the Dub and all hell broke loose up the tunnel. I remember them talking about it on a Sunday Game episode that evening and Lorcan's name was mentioned!

Alright Paddy, you've said enough. We'll see soon enough if you get a 3rd year! Oddball (Roscommon) - Posts: 939 - 05/06/2024 11:42:34 2549656 Link 1 |
I wouldn't keep Christie on either, I just don't see what the solution is. A long term plan is a better option, changing manager can't fix years of having teams who didn't compete well at underage

Element of truth and reality in that but there is no point forking out for Paddy Christie for another year when there has been no signs of improvement at all, even given the numbers that are committing to the county team and other issues that arose. Personally, i feel the best solution is to bring the whole set up in house within longford. Give a longford based coaching ticket the grace of 3-5 years to build a propery set up and hopefully a young team that can grow to challenge in that time. Having our own people involved will allow to keep a better finger on the pulse within the county. TOugh times ahead no doubt and no easy fix to it. Seeing otherf Division 4 teams inmprove over the last couple of years while we stagnate or regress does not bode well. LongfordSham (Longford) - Posts: 116 - 06/06/2024 11:17:45 2549817 Link 1 |
Best of luck to the Minors tomorrow. Nothing to fear and nothing to lose. Go for it. LongfordgaaAbú (Longford) - Posts: 583 - 07/06/2024 15:26:56 2550030 Link 0 |
Wasnt to be for the Minors on Saturday. Looked very nervous early on and any mistakes made carried through the game. Still, a great season for them with silverware in the bag. Hopefully as a group they can stick together through u20 and try get som epushed through to senior. LongfordSham (Longford) - Posts: 116 - 10/06/2024 08:21:51 2550463 Link 0 |
Hard luck to the Minors. A bridge too far in the end but a talented group with lots to be hopeful about. LongfordgaaAbú (Longford) - Posts: 583 - 10/06/2024 15:15:17 2550593 Link 0 |
League is peculiar anyway even kiloe don't make championship will be different. Mullinaghta will stay up even if in play off still bones of good team and if get few more back still good team

Surely some questions to be asked about Leinster champs getting beat out the gate and Dublin pushing close in their quarter?
veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 684 - 11/06/2024 08:13:30 2550717 Link 0 |
Not really, as we beat Dublin twice already this year. Only for the 2 goals Dublin got they would have been well beaten as well. Derry were always in control of that game. We looked like a team that had not trained much since the Leinster final to be honest. Either that or over-trained as they looked very leggy compared to the Leinster final. Also factor in that as a small county, we don't win that often.....so when we do, we like to celebrate a bit! Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1346 - 11/06/2024 08:51:13 2550731 Link 0 |
Colmcille have Division 2 all wrapped up with a few games to go. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1346 - 11/06/2024 08:53:49 2550734 Link 0 |
It's being a farce of a league with so many teams missing so many players and lots of skewed results. Normality resumed last weekend when most players were back and Killoe beat Carrickedmond well, Mullinalaghta beat Granard well and Clonguish hammered a poor Rathcline team. Dromard are still really struggling.
