I know that we have played Roscommon, Fermanagh and Antrim in challenge games in the last while and haven't lost any. We have probably played more than that as well. That being said challenge games at this time of year are little more than a training exercise.
There was supposedly a big row at the end of the game with Antrim after one of our players was on the end of a cheap shot off the ball. In my eyes that's no harm and good to hear the team stuck up for each other. We were a soft touch at times over the last few years but with the age profile of the team and experience hopefully that won't be happening anymore.
Haven't heard much about Ryan O'Rourke. Hopefully he's injury free. Think he's our star man and difference maker if we can keep him fit.
Defensively is where we have been alarmingly bad. If we can even see a 10% improvement in that I can see our forwards seeing us through most games in Division Four with the quality I have.
Intrigued to see what team is picked. Found some of Moran's selections peculiar at times last year.
Hopefully we can build on the excitement in Pairc Sean at the end of the Sligo game last year and that there will be a good crowd there next Sunday.

Yea heard the same on the challenge matches but never got results either. Good workout none the less I guess. I heard Ryan still working himself back and some people saying it could be 3/4th game in the league before he's ready but then again nothing confirmed. Hopefully a good start next weekend in Carrick and build from there through the league.

Sounds positive re challenge games. While you can take nothing for granted we should get across Waterford and London without him. Would be huge to have him for the Wexford game.

From what I've heard Moran has been looking at using a defensive player at wing-forward. I've no problem with this if its Shane Quinn or Aidan Flynn. Two players who are comfortable on both the defensive side of the game and on the attacking end and can transition the ball. However, if its an out and out defender thats just a poor move that has gone out of fashion and doesn't suit many of our players in my eyes.
Ryan O'Rourke does seem to be out till at least the Third Round so the make-up of our forward line will be interesting.
Keith Beirne and Darragh Rooney are guaranteed starters. Out from that it could be any number of players especially if he is considering playing a defensive player as one of our 6 forwards.
I would personally have Mark Plunkett starting but Andy Moran didn't seem to fancy him last year which was strange.
Jordan Reynolds I would say will definitely start with his pace and goal scoring abilities.
Paul Keaney kicked another two points in Sigerson last night (Donal Casey also played the full game) but will that mean Moran only uses Keaney from the Bench to avoid burnout/Injuries?
Not sure what Shane Morans availability is but I see him starting at 14 if fit.
Then do you start Oisin McLoughlin, Tom Prior, Evan Sweeney, Riordain O'Rourke Diarmuid Kelleher?
Then will Cillian McGloin and Jack Heslin be viewed as Forwards or Defenders?
Team selection will be very interesting and thats only in the forwards.

Important to get off to a winning start Sunday especially with two difficult away games to follow. From what I hear us available this is the team I'd like to see start:

With the likes of Jordan Reynolds, Riordan O' Rourke , Tom Prior , Conor Reynolds, Paul Keaney etc to come off the bench we should have enough to win Sunday if we don't there will be no promotion.

As 2023 dawns and a new season of hope arises for Leitrim over the mountains of despair, what can we look forward to this season hmm?
I am most amused at posters saying that it would be a disaster if we made a Connacht final. That is putrid thinking really. The goal of any year should be to make a Connacht final. If we got beat by 20 pts and get beat by 20 pts in every game in the All Ireland series then what about it? Isn't it better than getting beaten in every game in the Tommy Murphy B All Ireland Tailterns Cup?

Quinn playing as a sweeper as the 2 wings back would be very attack minded which is needed now with lots of pace. Obviously Tom Quinn maybe the solution for nunber 6 but I haven't seen him play yet. If he is good enough then Wrynn goes to midfield with keaney going to wing forward instead of Rourke. Great to have 2 long range kickers now in the form of Berine and Keaney which adds another string to our bow.

Do you know what's actually pitiful... lads here wanting us to go into games looking for teams to give us 20 point hammerings. That will surely encourage the youth to play for their county.

Himself and berine are on another level with their kick ING game. If keaney ups his workrate off the ball, he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet. I would say Sweeney will start probably ahead of Prior/Reynolds. To be fair to Sweeney he's always decent for 2/3 points per a game and then Prior off the bench with his speed for last 15.
Berine was playing more full forward against Galway, I wonder will that be something we'll see in the league with 2 man full forward.
